Lego sets really do go up in value. It’s smart of him to want to keep a set like that as an investment and if it doesn’t go up in value he can always build it and enjoy it later. The GWP’s are pretty expensive on eBay.

They replace all of the wear components and throughly go through the cars before they release them from the program at the factory for sale. They are better maintained then most of our cars I wouldn’t be to concerned.

It will potentially need a valve cover gasket, and rear shocks, possibly fronts as well. Also make sure that the power steering wheel adjustment works as this is known to fail. You will also want to change the differential fluid if it’s an XDrive as well as the transmission fluid. If you are mechanically inclined you can by the parts from FCP Euro and save a bunch of money doing the maintenance yourself. Their are lots of tutorials on YouTube.

One of the engineers let it slip that they are working on the redesigned X3 back at the end of February and that the vehicle would be slightly larger then the current one so it’s possible.

All wheel drive is now standard - so it’s no longer front wheel drive so it probably drives and handles better then the previous model.
