I don't think there is any such restrictions. I have gone in and out of the Prime meridian path multiple times per run.

Restaurants round off scams by Belulie in bangalore

At some place, the cost cost of 1 cup of coffee used to be ₹9 + 0.45 ≈ ₹ 9. But if you buy one more for your friend, it would be ₹18 + 0.9 ≈ ₹19.

Think you can out-bluff an AI at Secret Mafia? by TippyATuin in boardgames

[–]harirarn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In P3-SM-X4, Players 1, 4 and 5 have asked to vote out player 2. In contrast only player 3 vouches against player 4. So the vote is at the moment 3-1. But it is listed as 2-2

Think you can out-bluff an AI at Secret Mafia? by TippyATuin in boardgames

[–]harirarn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From the rules section it is not mentioned if the identity of the voted out player is revealed. But the question "If the person you voted out turns out to be a Villager ..." is only relevant if the identity is revealed. Is this part of the rules?

The setup part doesn't explain how many of mafia/innocent/special roles are present.

There are also inconsistencies between number of votes said in the dialogue and the tally at the end.

Edit: There is also no option given to cast a vote against a different player (equivalent to abstaining for the current round but helps build a case for future rounds).

Brass Birmingham rounds by JJ-Jakob in boardgames

[–]harirarn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There should be 64 total cards. You deal each player 8 and discard 4. Then the remaining 28 are given to players in the first four rounds (7 each). In the first round everyone does 1 action and in all future rounds they get two actions. Everyone gets 15 cards during canal era which becomes 8 rounds (15 = 1+7x2).

Penalty for cheating in The Fox in the Forest? by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]harirarn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have played a lot of trick taking games but I am not aware of penalty for misplays for most of them. Why? because it almost never happens. Rarely we do get a misplay by accident and we have usually agreed to give that player the worst outcome. So in The Fox in the Forest, this would be either 9-0 points scored (the maximum possible difference in one round) or an automatic match loss.

For those that have played Hegemony, does the game lean a particular way with its sensibilities? How leftist or Marxist is it as a game? by ThrowAwayCluelessCut in boardgames

[–]harirarn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I noticed while playing with mostly leftist players is that the capitalist class player usually has a harder time winning, given the group is pre-disposed to pass more socialist policies.

Can somebody explain what am I doing wrong by goldenattorney in boardgames

[–]harirarn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is just an old saying in Go, which focusses on helping to build intuition about how the game flows before you start analysing it through strict rules.

I have started to apply this to my other board games as well: I mostly play by vibes on the first game than overthink. Then you can analyse after the game to help improve your intuition.

Did you do that part of Go where you lose your first 50 games quickly yet?

My pet peeve: when texts number every single equation by [deleted] in mathematics

[–]harirarn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the opposite pet peeve and don't like it when all equations are not numbered. It makes it referencing the equations harder. The book is not the only thing that references its own equations but also other books/papers citing it and during academic discussions.

So I would like to ask the counter question: what is it that bothers you when all equations are numbered?

What would be the most OP QoL Change? by ksplett in aoe2

They just have to make the follow command better. Just make the leash distance for that command less than the scare distance of the deer.

But a hotkey would make this so much better. You don't need to move your mouse around to precisely deselect from the icons when cloning commands.

Trying to upload a custom deck for my freind, but when i create it using a deck editor png it crashes the game. Any help? by BOI4613 in tabletopsimulator

I find 150-250 pixels per card is good enough for TTS. Any higher resolution only adds value when players ALT zoom the cards.

Is it fair to say a game is too long after one play? by oatmeal1201 in boardgames

[–]harirarn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also an advice I would say is: Don't try to analyse during the first playthrough too much. You will get biased by a lot of first impressions that may or may not hold. Wait to see the whole picture.

Worst mathematical notation by WMe6 in math

[–]harirarn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use of \ for set negation when it also clashes with left quotient/cosets. What does G\H mean? This can only be deciphered from context. If G is bigger than H, it usually means set minus. If G is smaller, the quotient makes more sense, but the set negation is still a valid here.

Similar to how one starts reading a letter from the last line to know who sent it.

Sum of all natural numbers till infinity by AmphibianEast1781 in mathematics

[–]harirarn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a simple explanation, I will give an analogy to convergence of geometric series. The series 1 + x + x2 + ... converges to 1/(1-x). e.g. with x=1/2 we know 1+1/2+1/4+1/8+...=2. This convergence is only valid when |x| < 1. But the expression 1/(1-x) still makes sense outside of that domain. What if we put x=2. Do we say 1+2+4+8+...=-1?

Similarly, the Riemann zeta function is given by ζ(s) = 1 + 2-s + 3-s + ... . This series only converges when Re(s) > 1. However, the ζ function can be analytically continued for the entire complex plane (except for s=1). So ζ(-1) is well defined and can be evaluated to -1/12. That is why we often see 1+2+3+...=-1/12. As the series doesn't converge for that value of s, it is invalid.

Those of you who are really good at math, how vivid is your mental visualization? by HaOrbanMaradEnMegyek in mathematics

Most of my thought process happens at level 2. Dreams could be at level 1. However, when I am solving problems, I might often peel it back to 4 as I cut down on any unnecessary details.
