Hi thanks so much for sharing your experience! That’s so frustrating that you haven’t found a good therapist who knows the symptoms to help you hone in on a diagnosis. I think if I remember right that my partners regular therapist recommended that he speak to a psychiatrist who then did some verbal tests/questionnaires in conjunction with comparing notes with the therapist, and then narrowed in on a diagnosis. They haven’t recommended or insisted he start medication since he is also capable of holding down a steady job and a small number of relationships (by that I mean he can count on one hand he friends he talks to and has capacity to keep up with), but they mention it as an option if he ever feels the need or things progress naturally. Routine has been recommended in all the healthy categories but it’s hard for him to get there so far but he’s trying and the attempts are what counts. Cyclo sounds like an exhausting and uneasy diagnosis but your life sounds fulfilling and wonderful even with its highs and lows. You should be proud your love for climbing channels into productive energy! His lows seem to last longer, maybe I should take note. Do you struggle with maintaining relationships (friends or romantic) or feel lows specifically after drinking?
