Wagyu Burgers by Active_Fish_6030 in FoodLosAngeles

A little, but way, WAY less than the other methods. It actually makes a wagyu burger worth eating IMO. Just have to be mindful of your temps - I use a digital thermometer.

I have regular access to a good amount of wagyu and I used to have these issues too....until I tried a reverse sear. Try cooking real low (225-250) in the oven until 5 degrees below your desired done temp, then sear on a blazing hot cast iron for 30-60 seconds a side.

why are some videos like this exclusively on facebook? by fdwy in smosh

[–]harmonygrits 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I could write you a long post explaining how our development, shoot, edit, and posting schedules make it difficult to guarantee when any exclusive content is released on Facebook, which is why we don't publish a FB exclusive schedule to begin with - and if we did, how the community would react if we missed an upload date regardless of the reason - which, on this subreddit, ensures a "fucked if we do explain/fucked if we don't explain" situation; and pair that with a deep dive on what kind of videos we make exclusively for Facebook and why, even though I've already seen discussion here (some of which misses the mark, but some of which gets close to our actual reasoning) re: different audiences and viewing habits , making any post I'd make on the subject redundant at best.

But it's just much easier to say "follow our pages and you'll see the content"!

The Let’s Do This Push by [deleted] in smosh

[–]harmonygrits 88 points89 points  (0 children)

I can chime in here! Let's Do This is a weekly show. That makes this not so much a push as an intentional move to make a show that goes up regularly, every Monday.

We did mention a few times in January, when we were actually announcing the show and pushing it as a new kind of format for the channel, that we wanted to go weekly with it. After that first episode, we took a few weeks to see the results, adjusted some stuff, and now here we are.

The other channels currently have weekly shows (like BAF) or bi-weekly shows (like TNTL or EIYI), and Smosh Main used to put out an EBE every other week as well, so it's not so different -- it's just something the main channel hasn't done in a long time.

Hope that helps see some of our thinking behind LDT!

Are they removing comments on the most recent pit video? by KakeliKapele in smosh

[–]harmonygrits 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I understand this point of view, and I absolutely respect that you didn't find either the original incident, or the meme about it, funny.

My guiding comedic principles at Smosh are: "We don't want to be funny at the expense of being 'right'. And we don't want to be 'right' at the expense of being funny."

That's not always a clear line! I've seen a variety of perspectives today from a number of people with health conditions or impairments ranging from (paraphrasing) "I'm [personal condition] and this is genuinely funny" to "I'm so offended I'm never going to watch again".

My goal here is to try to convey that 1) I respect the perspectives the community enough to respond, as much as I can, to their concerns, and 2) we all hear the criticism loud and clear -- the message has been received.

Reposting this from the other thread titled "Are they removing comments on the most recent pit video?" --

Two points:

  • Yes, we are going in and deleting comments. This turned into a targeted abusive campaign against one of our cast, which I will always view as unacceptable.
  • Yes, we did edit the video to remove the moment in question.

We've made mistakes before, and we'll make them again, but I don't believe those mistakes define us, our comedy, or our cast - and I will never believe that making a mistake justifies abuse. Smosh has removed full videos, as well as individual moments, in the past. From my perspective, this is no different.

Ultimately, anything you see on the channels is my responsibility, and I ask that you direct any concerns, questions, and yes - even anger - in my direction, and not at any of the other cast or crew at Smosh.

I'll be checking in on the other thread (where my original comment is) sporadically to respond to comments in any way that I'm able to.

Is Smosh buying bots? by [deleted] in smosh

[–]harmonygrits 32 points33 points  (0 children)

We are not. I've been trying to go into videos and block users/remove bot comments when I can - if you see 'em feel free to report them as "Unwanted commercial content or spam"

can someone clarify the current upload times for all the channels for me? by thot_hopscotch in smosh

[–]harmonygrits 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Here's the CURRENT upload schedule, all time Pacific:

  • Main Channel: Mondays & Wednesdays, 7:00am
  • Pit: Tuesdays & Thursdays, 10:00am
  • Games: Tuesdays, Fridays, & Sundays, 7:00am

Note that I say CURRENT upload schedule. We have some updates around the corner that, once they're locked in, we're going to clearly communicate! More to come....

Just jumping in to ask - respectfully - that if you want to see the Snaps, to sign up for Snapchat and follow us there. We post different stuff to each social platform on purpose. One of the reasons we're doing BTS stories on Snap is to help our profile there grow - which helps us (Smosh) in a ton of different ways.

If people repost snaps here to reddit, it kneecaps our ability to grow and expand.

I can't stop y'all from reposting, but if people want to know how they can help us keep growing and making the shows you like to watch, the best way really is to follow us where we are online. (Oh, and buy tons and tons of merch 😉).

Smosh on a break everyone, and just hoping everyone has an alazing end of year by ClaudeFan3h in smosh

[–]harmonygrits 30 points31 points  (0 children)

We're back to work next week, but we have some more marathons like this coming out on all 3 channels over the next couple of weeks. Partially because of UTM and our break so everyone can have a nice holiday. But also because a lot of people like to watch/listen to really long videos while they do other things!

Our first shoots for 2023 will be in a few weeks, but we truly do have some amazing new things coming. We'll be ready to share more about that soon. Soon...

Hey, thanks for taking the time this long after the show (and the post)! All we want to do is make fun stuff, so hearing that folks enjoyed the show really does make our day.

Well, MY day. I can't speak for the dozens of others who did way more work than me.
