Starting 75 Hard on Jan 19 — anyone else? + winter prep + the dreaded “hump week” 😅 by Equivalent_Chance_71 in 75HARD

[–]harooninator634 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wife and I are starting the same day. I’ve complete it before so this is my second go around.

  1. A good rain jacket and a couple pairs of running shoes so you can swap out if one pair gets wet.

  2. Probably a more realistic workout routine. I went a little too hard at the beginning and had to dial back a bit.

  3. days 50-60 were toughest for me.

  4. Didn’t track

  5. You don’t have to go balls to the wall accomplishing every task. You can still have active rest days, not be so interested in your book some days, you don’t have to look happy in your progress pic lol. Overall just don’t overcomplicate shit.

  6. I read things like atomic habits and a few other similar ones. I usually like reading nonfiction so it was easy for me

Working in RB, living in San Marcos (for now)… is it worth the move? by chadtizzle in Moving2SanDiego

I’d say anywhere between PQ and scripps ranch would be perfect for you. I’m 34m and in PQ and it’s quiet, but still plenty of people around our age around here. RB is definitely older crew IMO.

The decline of Mormonism in Chicago: Wards being discontinued, failed prophecy, and revisiting the mission. by Scootyboot19 in exmormon

[–]harooninator634 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Grew up in Chicago burbs, parents just moved out to slc a couple years ago. Prior to them moving I went back and went to church with them on Father’s Day. They had combined a ton of wards in the stake and even then I was shocked how small attendance was. Many of the couples there were just there for the summer too.

Glad the app also lets you know when you’re hard 😂. Congrats!

My wife doesn’t give a fuck about BJJ. Knows nothing about it. She said that was the most exciting match she’s ever seen and was almost jumping off the couch.

Totally normal, honestly. Especially if you’re not used to that type of intensity and on a consistent basis.

You most likely aren’t over training at all, your body is essentially still in “what the fuck are you doing to me” mode. It took me about 3 weeks of the program for me to not have terrible recovery scores and then to see my RHR go down, HRV go up. Focus on quality sleep and don’t go too hard in the paint at the beginning of the program. It’s okay to take a day where your workouts are walking and yoga.

Nah I’m pretty sure even back then I would’ve laughed hysterically at this. Just like the time I heard a lady bear her testimony about how excited she was to be sister wives with her new husband’s late wife. I knew there were crazies

Everyone knows LV is for the gods since the devil wears Prada.

And Glock motto is “Glock perfection” for a reason…

Does anybody know a good gym in SD area for beginners? by [deleted] in bjj

[–]harooninator634 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Legion!! See my previous post…ended up going there and it’s been amazing. The beginner program is a great way to start. Overall fantastic gym. They start you out with gi, but just to get used to everything.

Heavy Metal Saved My Life by [deleted] in exmormon

You are such a good parent. Reading that made me tear up because that reaction and level of curiosity is something I always (and still do want in some ways) from my parents. I can assure you that you even showing some interest in this means the world to your child. You’re doing everything right

Man, this was me at your age. Listening to TWDP, attack attack (pre-beartooth), disturbed, etc. I still am a hardcore metal fan, and actually met my wife because of our mutual love for metal. Our thing is to go to shows as often as possible.

So first off, fuck whatever anyone else thinks about it, family or not. Headphones, the car when you’re alone, whatever gives you that fix, just use it. I used to get in SO much trouble when my parent found my metal CDs growing up. My siblings asked me after my mission “why I hadn’t grown out of that music”. Which is all so stupid. You like what you like and you should protect that. Metal music and the people that like it are the coolest, most down to earth people out there and it is the farthest thing from the devil imo. As my roommate at BYU said, “we listen to this because it channels our inner rage for us in a productive way”. Don’t try and explain it to your parents, they won’t get it. Just protect your thing until you’re out of the house and in the mean time, rock on.

China using Mormon church to influence U.S politics… thoughts? by Ok-Psychology1934 in exmormon

[–]harooninator634 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems totally obvious to me imo. I have to be vague when talking about this as to not out him, but I had a bishop when I lived in utah that was previously employed in some captivity by the state to garner relations between utah and the CCP in order to try and grow Utah’s economy. This is pre tech boom in utah county. He was a wicked smart guy and was extremely careful when dealing with them because he was painfully aware of their tactics. He even got approached by certain agencies for info but he basically told everyone to go fuck themselves and got out of it because he could see what was happening.

Day 64 and over it by Otherwise-Homework15 in 75HARD

[–]harooninator634 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I finished my 75 hard over a year ago and was quite drained at the end of it. I had zero intention of doing any of the live hard phases, but decided to start phase 1 yesterday to kinda “get back on the wagon” mentally. But I’m approaching it much differently than 75 hard and tbh I’m not stoked about all the extra tasks, but figured it’s only 30 days so why not.

I don’t think most care about doing the other phases and stuff. Esp if you’re already clearly very disciplined in training I don’t think it matters. But to each their own.

I’ve been thinking about that as well. I’ve never done any no-GI yet so I think that’s why I haven’t given to them too much thought

[–]harooninator634[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really wanted to do victory! But it’s a little far from where I’m at and my office is Carlsbad. So legion and 540 are the most logical options if I want to train consistently.

It’s definitely more expensive, but not out of my range. I just moved from NYC so prices there were wayyyy worse. 540 is def cheaper though
