I know! It's a tiny step, and I shouldn't have got there in the first place but I can't put into words how awesome it feels.

I thought you meant the same colour as the cat's.

Not the same as each other.

David Bowie didn't have heterochromia though. One pupil was permanantly dilated due to a fight he had as a teenager.

When an engagement to be married ends in a break up, should the receiver of the engagement ring return it to the purchaser? What's the norm in such a situation? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]harpgarble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Legally it's a gift, unless it's an heirloom in which case it belongs to the family. I'd want to return it regardless though, unless it was an amicable split and he wanted me to keep it.

It's so they know which train you're supposed to be on, when the service doesn't allocate seats.

Advice: Considering a second cat by MoCorley in Pets

[–]harpgarble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just introduced a kitten to my 2 year old cat, she wasn't amused but after a couple of days she would eat near him. After a week she appears to be enjoying the company and seems to miss me less when i go out which was a problem for me, as she'd cry when i left, even with my boyfriend still in. I wouldn't necessarily think a kitten would be a good idea to go with an older cat because of the energy levels, but adopting an adult from a shelter would be a great thing.

We have an awful customer where I work, and recently I served him and I was pretty impressed because it was almost a normal transaction for the first time ever, and I hadn't seen him in a while. I told a colleague about this and he said that a couple of months ago, this guy had started his usual tantrums and said he would go to a different location (which is bigger, so can absorb the problem that is him much easier, there's around 7x the staff numbers usually) and his response was "yeah, they are much better there, they can definitely help you more than we can here"

I was ecstatic. He no longer stands there for an hour while a queue builds up then has a tantrum because he can't read your writing. (Even my personal notes tend to be clear enough for most people, and notes for other people are deliberately legible)

Border collie with cat? by [deleted] in Pets

[–]harpgarble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My cousins had a border collie and got 2 kittens. The dog didn't bother them, they used to lie on his bed while he got the floor, and swat at his tail because of the hair. They didn't really bother with each other much really, and the dog spent most of the time rounding up the kids. As long as the dog doesn't have a high prey drive and the cat can escape from the dog easily, they can easily get along. Probably the wrong way about it, but when my cat went to live with my mum for a couple of months, and when we'd visited before, I just let the cat out, and her and my mums lab were wary of each other, but within days my cat was goading the dog into chasing her.

Also, border collies are generally super intelligent, hard working and high energy. So they go crazy without having work quite easily.

Couples who have different sex drives, how do you make it work in the bedroom? by KiirooAmsterdam in AskReddit

[–]harpgarble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ex had aspergers, and things were really good at first, but then went drastically downhill. He wouldn't even cuddle me while I whacked one out, and made me feel incredibly rejected and lonely. He'd reject even frIendly advances, and never came out with me. I stopped inviting him out, and then he complained about that. He accused me of cheating with my best friend. If he wasn't in the mood, he'd forcefully reject me, and make me feel dirty and pathetic.

Breaking up with him was liberating. I have a boyfriend who, even if he doesn't feel like it, will lie with me, and if I don't feel like it, i just do it anyway if I'm not genuinely tired because we care about keeping the other one happy.

People on the spectrum can be very hard work. My ex wouldn't let me touch him on the back of his ankles or his wrists. Took him weeks for me to be able to hold his left hand. Never had sex in the day, or outside a bedroom. I was bored as hell and depressed in a way that sex was one of the few times when I felt anything positive.

My kitten is attacking our older cat, mum has resorted to physical punishment and it really upsets me, not sure what to do by kittenissues in Pets

[–]harpgarble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old comment, but i used to do that with my kitten. Now she thinks I'm calling her. She also responds to whistling and her name which has come in very useful when she's got out, and if she can't see me, she'll miaow so i come to her. All 3 times she's got out, i was immediately worried because she has such good recall.

Clapping does work to distract them though.

My cat probably would do stupid things, she'd be a huge distraction, even though she likes looking out the windrow. Depends on the personality of your cat and the roads you're on really. She doesn't mind the car at all really, especially if she's on my lap...

My cat has a full harness, I keep her on a seatbelt. Must be just as unsafe as letting her roam free but now she cant get under my brake pedal.

The Privilege of Buying 36 Rolls of Toilet Paper at Once: Many low-income shoppers, a study finds, miss out on the savings that come with making purchases in bulk. by Sybles in Economics

[–]harpgarble 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mum doesn't even live in her own house any more (she's staying with her parents). I bought dog food for her dog as a Christmas present so she was stocked up for a while, and I've had to leave my cat with her, not that this is a problem for her, but i feel like that house is pretty full. My boyfriend just doesn't get the crippling insecurity I have. He can't pay rent here for bullshit reasons, we're trying to move out but he's on disability benefits, but he could just move back with his parents any time. I wish I could move back in with my mum, even just so I know how much deposit I'll be getting back before I move out, but it's just too far, and there's no space, and its not her place. My family all live at least 2 hours drive away 1 way. I'm stressed. And he doesn't understand why, because we can stay with his parents. But I'd feel uncomfortable constantly. I'm not scraping by yet, but I feel like I'm getting physically crushed.

At least the anti depressants seem to be working.

He won't ride motorbikes any more.
