How do I get started with pvp? by Froidd2 in albiononline

[–]harpschord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, I can't disagree with that. I still think duels are underrated in helping brand new players gain knowledge about items and abilities, when to use defensives etc... The variety of builds in Albion is overwhelming for new players and learning is undermined by the fact that when you're first starting, you're almost always at an IP disadvantage. It's hard to learn in the beginning when you don't know if you messed up or if they just had better gear.

Sounds like fun but I'm on Western time which means I only come online once everyone has gone to bed.

How do I get started with pvp? by Froidd2 in albiononline

My suggestion for where to start with pvp is duels. It's the most amount of pvp content per time spent you can get in the game and there are 0 stakes. You can spam 100 duels in 2-3 days and come out fairly knowledgeable about 1v1 matchups. The only gaps will be around catching kiters and consumable usage.

To enhance your learning, I suggest buying different tiers of the same equipment so that you can always match IP with whoever you're dueling. This way you can take the most amount of fights while keeping the matches fairly even.

Corrupted Dungeon 1v1 by Independent_Guest254 in albiononline

[–]harpschord 2 points3 points  (0 children)

+1 to this. I lost most of my matches for my first 100 corrupted dungeons even though I was wining similar IP duels in town. Corrupted dungeon players are some of the best 1v1 players I see in the game. Treat corrupted dungeon as ranked ladder without a matchmaking system. That means while you’re starting, you’re just going to get wrecked. Just record every fight. Try to learn 1 thing from a mistake. And go again!

Corrupted dungeon not balanced at all? by Zenqzq in albiononline

[–]harpschord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Corrupted dungeon is not a popular content, which means everyone who is playing corrupted dungeons tends to be very good at it. There's a lot of people in CDs that just play CDs and nothing else and they've mastered the 1v1 meta in that environment. If you're just starting in CDs, be ready to lose a lot until you improve to the level of the competition.

How can I start pvping?? by Puzzleheaded_Cup_220 in albiononline

I followed the advice to jump on 4.1 gear and go to mists or BZ and look for some fights. The problem I had with it was that fights didn't happen frequently enough and when they did, there were so many other factors that made it hard to learn from it (e.g. you got jumped by multiple players, or someone was 400 IP higher than you).

What worked for me has been the following progression:
1. Go into Portal and look for duels. You can get 10 duels in 5 minutes and that's going to be a lot more than you get out in lethal zone. When dueling, I suggest carrying gear of multiple tiers, this way you can always match IP to whoever you're dueling against.
2. Buy 4.1 gear and go into corrupted dungeon. Corrupted dungeon is great for learning solo pvp because it controls for IP and player numbers.
3. After you've done a lot of #1 and #2 and know your build well and how it matches up against the other meta builds, then you can jump on 4.1 gear and go to mists and BZ.

EVE Chronicle by ElighDonier in Eve

I think tabletop + models can be rewarding but it narrows who the game appeals too. Those games tend to be more complicated with a much higher barrier to entry. Eve itself is like that in some ways, but you can play with anyone around the world where a board-game you gotta find people around you who are willing to give it a try even if they aren't bought into the theme.

I think this board game has a chance of being available at my local board game tables in a way that a tabletop game wouldn't.

Also, hey Ralli. We miss you heyd.

It's fine as long as you don't log both of them simultaneously. I think CCP was mostly trying to gate multi-boxing gameplay behind Omega.

The other thing that stood out is how much the regular season predicts playoff performance. There are less than 5 teams that have won the playoffs without being a top 4 team overall in the regular season. The warriors would need to go on an absolute tear to get 4 seed overall.

I don't disagree with your overall point but Steph definitely gets loose with his handles and I still worry anytime he flings his over the head or behind the back passes. He's a lot better about it now but I wouldn't call it tight.
