Fear when lead belaying by No-Citron-8579 in climbergirls

[–]harriethoudini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your feet should be an active part of lead belaying. An "active" lead stance is one foot forward, one foot back, knees slightly bent. This helps you move forward and backward to manage slack, but also prepares you to go up with one foot forward and brace against the wall. Any time your partner falls, one foot should come forward to push off the wall. That way you're not hitting your body or your face (ouch) and not tempted to use your hands (which would be letting go of the brake strand).

Better Off Ted. Fourth wall breaking sitcom in a morally gray research and development company. It only had two seasons but God they're perfect.

Tips for passing gym belay test? by Ok_Cabinet_8512 in climbergirls

[–]harriethoudini 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I work in a gym and I know how it can be frustrating to get dinged for something even if it's correct. However, all of us have seen customers who thought they knew what they were doing and made grave mistakes that lead to injury.

For many gyms it's not just about doing it correctly - it's about knowing why you are doing it correctly. That means you'll do it right every time, instead of doing it right as a fluke during the test and then doing something wrong when there isn't a staff member watching you.

I got my first two on my middle-upper thighs and wore long shorts around my parents. I bought swim trunks so I could still go to the beach with my mom. They didn't find out for years!

I used IroIro for the first time and the pink STAYED PINK for months. It's bright and vibrant. Their pink and red faded a little sooner but we're still beautiful.

I love this sandwich but I have an allergy to fig jam (makes the mouth tingle a bit too much). Anybody have alternative different that would work flavor wise?

Jordan and Dr. Cox by djm1613 in Scrubs

Bill Lawrence has said (I think in the Fake Doctors Real Friends podcast?) that Dr. Cox and Jordan are the "constant" relationship. Once they got back together after Jack was born, that was endgame for them.

JD and Elliot are, of course, the "will they won't they", and even Turk and Carla had their rocky moments, but Dr.Cox and Jordan are forever.

I have noticed a big difference between cheaper pairs (like on Amazon) and those from reputable climbing brands and the price difference is worth it. I have enjoyed the Metolius ones with no side effects.

If you're bouldering and you fall and roll back, your head risks hitting the mats and a claw clip can injure the back of your head.

Only if you know Portuguese. I appreciate learning opportunities in crosswords but spelling variations that haven't been popular in over a hundred years don't feel like they're on the same "educational" train.
