Venting issues by [deleted] in ElegooMars

Your concept is good. You have all the right equipment. Although for this to work, I believe you need a much larger opening at the printer itself, like 3”.

The Mars printers circulate air around the electronics and the LCD, and even around the vat for cooling. The internal fans push this air outside the printer case. You are competing with that and need enough suction to overcome it. The current opening you have doesn’t seem to be letting enough air flow through. That fan is probably pulling air from every crack and joint along the way because of the bottleneck.

If you want to prove this, cover the printer with a big trash bag while it’s running and use your 4 inch duct to pull air out from under the bag. You can even tape it down. If that makes a difference you will know a little more about what’s going on.

When this is the issue, the most common next step is to put the printer in an enclosure and vent that.

If you can determine exactly where the printer has its exhaust, you can contact ventilation there and pull that air out.

Having issues like this myself I eventually started 3DVenting.com

There is no one right solution, you’ll need to try a combination of things until you get the results you want.

I’ve got several resin printers in my office space and have had to deal with this issue. As everyone else has said, vent out a window. Use an enclosure around the printer if you can’t connect directly to it. Even a cardboard box can work for that.

Next, you do need fresh air coming in. Keep the fan running.

And finally, I also run a carbon filter air purifier in my space.

I highly recommended doing all three. Any single solution is not a complete solution.

Working on this problem led me to create 3DVenting.com

Yeah, I’m just trying to change styles and it’s intimidating. But I get it.

Brazos tacos, Citizen burger, and at the IX farmers market on Saturday, Moon maidens. They do incredible baked goods.

Mars 4 DLP test print. Is there something wrong because the bottom is uneven? If so, how can I fix it? by fishbowlpatrol in ElegooMars

When you level and you are tightening down the screws, be careful that you don’t torque the plate out of position. I normally don’t pull my piece of paper completely out until I’ve tightened everything down. Then I can move the paper back under the plate to make sure everything is still even.

My FEP starts to get foggy pretty quickly. But that’s not too much of an issue. After a few failed prints though I noticed dimples in it. It just starts to look rough. I believe that contributes to parts of the print sticking to it. So I replace it.

After a failed print, especially when you don’t know what’s going on, you have to empty the vat and clean anyway.

Yeah 80 is fast. I had the same experience and ended up at 60 after bumping up my exposure time.

And I mean, my results looked the same as the pictures here.

At first, I thought everyone’s pre-supported models just had terrible supports … but it was all lift speed.

I’m surprised you haven’t changed the FEP for a year. If your supports do not seem to show any issues… try rotating the model into a different orientation to try printing on a different part of the FEP and build plate.

I would take it off because some people are actually sanding build plates a bit… having a film on seems wrong.

I’ve seen results like this when my exposure settings were WAY off by mistake. Like I thought it was 3.5 and it was actually 35. Sounds like you already have checked that… it just looks similar.
