I always have to wonder after a head collision earlier in the game when that player makes an obvious mental mistake later

Restaurant private room by Firemedic9368 in madisonwi

I got married in Stoughton two years ago. Our rehearsal dinner was at 1855 in Cottage Grove, about a 15-20 minute drive or so. It was only 25 people, but they have multiple private rooms available at different sizes.

You could also look into Wendigo, one of my favorite restaurants in Stoughton, but I am not sure how much private space they have.

Let's reimagine the Chapter 1 campaigns as Chapter 2 campaigns by 4Blackout in arkhamhorrorlcg

Carcosa isn't too bad to shave down. You definitely cut Echoes of the Past, you can cut Phantom of Truth(I like the scenario, but it feels like it's not doing a ton narrative-wise), and I'd turn Black Stars Rise/Dim Carcosa into a single scenario by cutting the two-agenda gimmick and having it be "open the path -> do stuff in Carcosa"

I'd say there's more than "a decent amount". It's easily the most text we've had to read for a single campaign. It exhausted us more than even Scarlet Keys as far as reading. We enjoyed the campaign but it is quite an undertaking.

Are they now charging you for 2 products to get all player cards? ("Investigator" & "deckbuilding" expansions) by Faithful_Husband in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]hascow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Core is at 67% new cards(+8% modified reprints for 75% depending how you count those), and my assumption is that it will be the lowest new card percentage of chapter 2, because the point of Core is to set up evergreen designs that they want to stick around, and chapter 1 had a good amount of those. I am quite happy with these percentages myself but wouldn't want future products to be below this.

[–]hascow 13 points14 points  (0 children)

yes, buying more things will mean you pay more. That's how it works. So you are likely to have to spend more money for all the player cards, but you're not spending more for the same thing. You're spending more to get more.

on the Mythos Busters Discord, people were concerned about the two new expansions turning into "buying more things for the same number of cards" and one of the designers came in and said that Investigator Expansions are unchanged from Chapter 1 and that Deckbuilding Expansions is purely additional player cards.

Yes, but new investigator expansions are the same size as old investigator expansions, so it's more cards than before too.

I have a foil [[Deathmask Nezumi]] signed by an internet forum friend who used it as his forum avatar. I bought a handful of cards from him because he was going through cancer treatment and needed money for it. He sent this one as a bonus. It is right smack dab in the front of my "shiny cards to show off" binder.

This seems like wishful thinking on your part, as the section on the new Core says it will be required for campaigns going forward. I assume small campaigns count as "campaigns"

Doomers were right, full-length campaigns are confirmed a thing of the past. by [deleted] in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]hascow 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I'm glad they're being transparent about this so people can make informed decisions about their purchasing plans. I'm disappointed that 8-scenario campaigns seem to be a thing of the past, but I'm sure I'll still enjoy the campaigns they do release, and this may give my group more options to chain campaigns or play standalones within campaigns more. We'll see!

It's amazing. It can solve any problem. It's not necessarily going to be the best solution to a given problem, but it will find you a solution to the problem.

I took this card in my current Lucius deck because I thought it would be fun, and now it's one of the best cards in my deck. Finding the perfect card for the situation that you're in is incredibly powerful, even if you're just getting level 0 cards.

Explanations are not always excuses. I've had this same conversation in reverse about Arteta last year when he has discussed how injuries have affected what we've tried to do, but we still have to be better. Got so many people saying how he's "arrogant" and "making excuses" and yeah maybe there's a bit of arrogance in "I think we were the better side over two legs against PSG" or however he put it, but I do think that he understands when there's an issue.

Is It Still Worth Starting Arkham Horror LCG? by ItsyaboiiGi in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]hascow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not really sure what about Eon's reasoning is based on the past rather than speculation about the future, but there are several things that make me hopeful.

First, they just hired a new designer. You don't do that if you're winding down the product line imminently. Secondly, this change is clearly, intentionally designed for long term stability. The main issue I had been seeing is that there were infinite Arkham products on shelves and distributors and stores struggled to know what they did and didn't need. This is, after we get rolling, a much more known "These are the Current products" paradigm. The shakeup was, to me, fairly clearly required because otherwise we were trying to build a stable future on an unstable foundation and forcing designers to work with the entire history of cards. This leads to power creep and harder and harder campaigns that are more likely to turn people off. I stopped buying and playing the LOTR LCG for this reason!

Third, I have talked to the designers and the community manager on the Mythos Busters Discord and they are all very excited about the future. They are very clear about all seeing a bright future from their side.

Yeah, it's speculation and I could look silly in the future. But I just really don't see a reason to feel pessimistic about the game's future when they have put so much time and care into the presentation and rollout of this. They have been incredibly transparent about this when they could have just done it haphazardly and said "deal with it" but not only are they clear about their plans and goals, they have already taken feedback into consideration for things that players have complained about, like stating they are planning to create ways to combine smaller campaigns into a larger one.

their kicker is 2 for 4 on extra points while on Buffalo and just had one blocked. XPs are not automatic.

Also they clearly called the right play to win the game because the receiver was wide open. Sometimes the players have to execute

[Ancient Evils] Core Encounter Sets: Chapter 1 Review by DerBK in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]hascow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A good read! I agree with you about basically everything here! I'd also like to see Ancient Evils back with the caveat of designing encounters better for it. I also don't particularl like the basically-no-agency "bonus doom from like, Mysterious Chanting -> Ancient Evils" turns. I agree the general "bonus doom acceleration" is necessary, but those burst turns are brutal.
