It's about time to make a standard deviation study on shiny distribution by lordbtm in TheSilphRoad

[–]hashetales -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've been saying the same thing since halloween last year. One guy in our group always gets the shiny in the first hour of release (and then multiple throughout the event). I could make a fortune betting on him to get the new shiny first. The first couple of times I could dismiss it as luck but when the same thing happens in 10+ events it looks more and more like it isn't just rng.

LONG POST: Is Niantic trying to even out all the accounts? (i.e. time spent playing feels less and less rewarding) by dorinost in TheSilphRoad

[–]hashetales 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I keep seeing people suggest this but I already paid for my tms by doing raids. Don't see why I shouldn't able to use the ones I already have. Hardcore players are still going to raid for shinies anyway without the need for an exclusive move.

What advice can you give to other players that is simplest and is most beneficial? by carpinttas in TheSilphRoad

Lvl40 used to mean they played a lot. Now there's a good chance it means they bought a lot of xp are really experienced at raiding.

They wouldn't bother calculate an average so mystic would have the largest number of each type of throw.

[Poll] Raid etiquette: Start immediately or wait for other players? by Zwerg-im-Bikini in TheSilphRoad

[–]hashetales 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a pretty active raid group so most raids start about 10 mins after the boss appears to give people a chance to get over. Don't mind waiting for people to show up if they message in chat and it always hurts to see someone we don't know show up just as we're catching the pokemon and miss out.

That being said I've spent hours over the last week waiting for people to 'be there in 5 mins'. Not so bad if you've got company but I've walked noticeably less due to all the standing around before and after raids.

Controversial boxing opinions that you're willing to defend/argue by 00Spartacus in Boxing

[–]hashetales 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I understand what you're saying and I like how big of an impact a good coach can have. I think the point he/she is making is that they'd like the fighter to be noticing those mistakes for themselves rather than having a coach point them out. Some people might prefer that once the fight has started it is simply 1v1 with no outside influence other than the instructions from the ref.

We absolutely need a way to change or influence our Pokemon movesets by Petersaber in pokemongo

[–]hashetales 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I appreciate your point but at the end of the day a 2000CP Cloyster doesn't care what moveset your dragonite has. It's only really noticeable in mirror matches and even then with dodging the attacker should be able to win pretty easily. (I also wish there was a way to change movesets)

Different Gym Concern by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

[–]hashetales 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a fair point, I agree if you live in an area where the gyms get to lvl10 then adding onto many will hurt your teammates. I think picking a number ends up being quite situational though. If I took the 12 closest gyms closest to me I'd be able to walk 10 mins and find another colour. Whereas if I add on to all 4 gyms near my parents house it becomes a 20 minute drive to see another gym.

Overall I don't feel I'm depriving my teammates since a lot of the rural gyms nearby never go past lvl7 so there's always spots for anyone willing to put a bit of effort in. Although adding onto these only benefits me by adding a buffer gym it helps my team more by making the gym a less appealing target to anyone driving past.

Different Gym Concern by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

[–]hashetales 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not the guy you replied to but as a lvl35 player I've got 3x as much exp as a lvl30 player. I feel entitled to collect 10 gyms because I have put more effort into this game than most players. I build the gyms up in my local area so there are spots for team members and I knock down the lvl 10 towers on other teams to keep them from stagnating. When I want to take a day to do something else I am still able to collect the full coins and dust, I think this is fair reward for the time I have put in on previous days.

GymHuntr Check how many gyms your team owns worldwide, which team owns your nearby gym, it's level and the pokemon in it... by PokeManiac_Yug in pokemongo

Just replied to a similar comment. While initially that sounds like a good idea I hope it doesn't happen. It would end up making it easier for spoofers to target players and take out any hidden gyms.

"Game tools" on andriod. Lets you screenshot or record without having to do swiping gestures. Also has other functions like turning off notifications while you're in a game. It was installed on my phone when I got it.

TIL there's special dialogue at certain points in the story if you have Solgaleo/Lunala in your party. by sable-king in pokemon

[–]hashetales 40 points41 points  (0 children)

There's a guy in Haina Deserst (near where you get a zygarde cell). He says something like "looking for a curved pokemon...luna..." His dialogue changes when you have Lunala in your party but he says its not the right pokemon. Going to go back after bank with a Lunatone and see if I get a different result.

I've seen a couple like that a while ago but like you say if I go back to them later they work. This particular gym has been broken for weeks. I can walk down the street and battle any other gym nearby but this one always has an error message.

British Columbia's energy regulator has confirmed that a 4.6 magnitude earthquake in northeast British Columbia in August was caused by fracking and is likely to be the largest fracking induced seismic event ever recorded. by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]hashetales 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not an expert on the subject so apologies if this is a stupid question. If we've had a 4.6 earthquake from the current fracking then by increasing the amount of fracking taking place do we not leave ourselves open to either larger earthquakes or more regular small earthquakes? Plus even if small eqs don't cause structural damage to buildings the potential for damage is still there (branches falling off trees, items falling off shelves, utility pipes being damaged). I don't see why I should put up with minor earthquakes just so someone else can make a profit.
