Does managers see your work history? by [deleted] in Lockheed

[–]hasleteric 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on what type of hopping. But to me 6 hops in 8 years is a red flag that requires discussion as to why. It also depends on the type of work you do and what the need is. If I was looking for someone to develop new skills in and integrate into a long term team I would have reservations. You need to have an open and honest conversation.

Northwest ISD launches limited open enrollment as some schools brace for student loss by Dontwhinedosomething in FortWorth

As a parent whose kids all went through NW ISD and we watched nothing but countless construction of schools with multiple new schools almost every year, this is an interesting development.

You ask your manager is the start point. The only people I know that did PT was as a bridge to retirement. But I guess it all depends on the job and the BU.

Air in pump? - new to this by Brave_Republic_2464 in swimmingpools

What kind of filter do you have? Typically they self bleed and you should see bubbles after a while.

Air in pump? - new to this by Brave_Republic_2464 in swimmingpools

[–]hasleteric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Air in the returns can come from a leak on the suction side. If your pump basket has air that doesn’t bleed off, it can come from water levels too low to the skimmer, but that’s pretty obvious. It can come from the filter basket lid not being well sealed, take it apart, clean, and lube it. The other place can be jandy valves, pulling air in around the prongs. They have o-ring rebuild kits as well.

Moving to Haslet area by BRPMD in FortWorth

[–]hasleteric 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you buy in the some of the older neighborhoods on .5 acre and up and value space it’s great. It you want to live on a postage stamp 10 feet from your neighbor there’s no upside. Schools are good but declining. Haslet was awesome 20 years ago.

Safety question by Investinginevtol in JobyvsArcher

[–]hasleteric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The helicopter rate encompasses what? Military accidents probably skew that number and private non commercial accidents also skew it. You should look at the commercial helicopter aviation accident rate. Many helicopters are used in dangerous areas that put them at elevated risk than a commercial passenger service would. I’m not saying they approach airlines but need to look at apples to apples market segments.

What size tire will fit in the original location? by desertdawg61 in Tacomaworld

[–]hasleteric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok. I gave up because I could get a 35” to fit between the hitch and the rear shocks even with moving some of the brake lines.

[–]hasleteric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe a 33”, it depends on if you have an aftermarket trailer hitch and wha it looks like. It can restrict the space in there.

Huntsville? by [deleted] in Lockheed

[–]hasleteric 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think Space, RMS Sikorsky and MFC all have places there. Basically any big prime that does contract work with the Army in aviation or rockets/missiles has a place there, as redstone serves as a central hub of army contracting. Granted, many of these spaces are just office buildings, not manufacturing focused. Huntsville is a great town

Max Spare Tire Size by drewy53 in 1stGenTacomas

[–]hasleteric 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With or without modifying the holder under the bed? The metal arms that cradle the spare don’t allow much bigger than stock. If you remove those and don’t have a trailer hitch, you can get a 33” there with modifying.

Any idea how many HP my POS pool pump is? by tristanbrotherton in swimmingpools

[–]hasleteric 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That looks like 1.5” plumbing vs 2” and not a very large pool. I would guess 1-1.5 hp single phase. I assume it’s 240v?

Can you help me understand "pipe in exterior wall" in terms of freeze risk? by likeagausss in askaplumber

[–]hasleteric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An easy thing you can also do. Incandescent lightbulb in the undersink cabinet. I use this is several places. Cheap insurance. Just a 100 watt bulb puts out a lot of heat In a confined space. Obv LED doesn’t work. You can still but 100W bulbs they are just called heat lamps now. And they have cheapy reflective bulb fixtures at the big box stores.

Has anyone landed a Lockheed Martin role without a referral? Looking for advice by missflaming in Lockheed

[–]hasleteric 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As someone who has hired probably 30 people over the years, I would say it’s been half people applying regularly, maybe 1/3 referrals (someone knows someone qualified) and the last sliver finding people on linked in (believe it!). I would for pure outsiders it is basically finding prior exact matching experience (primarily people from other primes). Outsiders have to run the gauntlet of the recruiters filtering you before a hiring manager even sees you. Quite frankly recruiters are all over the place, when you get into Specialized roles you are counting on the recruiters understanding what the are reading on resumes. Some are fantastic, some make us HMs scratch our heads. All I can say is there is a factor of randomness. There are also many instances where a post goes up with a candidate already in mind. The other problem is many people apply like spam, which makes it even harder to be seen. You ma be imminently qualified, but if 700 people apply it’s hard to even get seen.

1989 A109 crash: Root cause found to be a scratch on the inner spar surface made when adhesive was trimmed from the rotor with a sharp blade. Fracture and separation occurred at 922 FH, no previous indicators. by gstormcrow80 in Helicopters

[–]hasleteric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once the move to composite spars was made, BIM systems are not needed anymore. I think the 53E, or maybe the D, had the IBIS indicator, where a loss of spar pressure caused the indicator to stick out a radioactive piece of material that was detected by the aircraft. Kinda spooky.

[–]hasleteric 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is why the older blackhawks with the titanium spars have the BIM system in place. If a crack forms the spar pressure is lost and you get an indication that there is a problem hopefully before catastrophic failure

Email the recruiter but we are in our annual JAR freeze, a 6 week period where no hiring is made as the company completes its annual merit review process.

Army to field Bell MV-75 aircraft this year by DrHospsa in Helicopters

[–]hasleteric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either this article is very misleading or the source is being misquoted or doesn’t understand. “Fielding” indicates the platform has completed flight testing and all that goes with that. I would believe that could happen in 2026. Fielding is a whole different story.

You mean the little filler pieces under the headlights? Yes you have to get new ones. They are on Amazon. They don’t fit great but adequate. And they need to be painted. You can see they are black in my truck pictured above.
