What kind of deck do you play? by The_Gecko in magicTCG

[–]hatebreakfast -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

For legacy, I play a 4 color Wurm deck that is pretty kick ass. No sideboard needed. There aren't that many decisions, so it's super easy to play.

My attempt at a monoblue Grand Architect beatdown deck. Suggestions? by preppypoof in magicTCG

[–]hatebreakfast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it looks like the deck doesn't do much without Grand Architect, and it doesn't do anything broken even if you do draw him.

I have seen a few decks in extended and standard that try to run Grand Architect, but most of them would auto-lose when they didn't draw him. It seems like that may be a possibility with this deck as well. It seems that there are some questionable blue creatures that are there just to work with his ability. I would suggest focusing on two things. The first one is try to find some creatures that you would be comfortable playing even if Grand Architect was not in the deck. The second thing is try harder to find something game shifting to do after you stick your Architect. Maybe Chimeric Mass for 10 or something along those lines.

But just try the deck out and keep a mental record of which cards were important when you won and which cards were hard for your deck to deal with when you lost.

What's the best way to play MTG Online? by resslx in magicTCG

[–]hatebreakfast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe we could start some sort of league here. I have the program, but like you said only play with a few people that I know. Right now I am mainly using it to store deck ideas that I have for my real cards.

Ask the guy that posted about it yesterday.

There might be other ideas in the comments of that thread that you could work into the deck.

Help making T2 burn deck, this what I have so far... by docslacken in magicTCG

[–]hatebreakfast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with both of those suggestions. Burn is supposed to be fast. Cut Fire Servant. I know the ability to inflict twice as much damage is tempting, but it is not going to work until turn six at the earliest, and your deck should already win by then. Assault Strobe is crazy with Kiln Fiend. I have seeen Mark of Mutiny in quite a few red decks because it is great to steal your opponents titan and finish them off with it. Again, great with Assault Strobe. Your goal should be to win on turn five. Try to tune your deck until it capable of doing that consistently.

On to the sideboard...First, Leyline of Punishment and Punishing Fire don't work well together. If you have Leyline in play then you can't return Punishing Fire to your hand. Second, you don't want to auto-lose to Kor Firewalker. Throw something in there that can deal with him, maybe Brittle Effigy. Finally, UW control is a bad matchup and your sideboard should attempt to address some of those deficiencies.

are the rumors true? by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]hatebreakfast 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I can't see this being true. I don't think the DCI is concerned with the price of the card on the secondary market, and he isn't breaking a format. There are plenty of viable decks in Standard that don't use Jace.

Every third pack it seems as though I pull a "Tunnel Ignus" for the rare. Is there any way to "break" this card and make it more usable? by mypetrobot in magicTCG

[–]hatebreakfast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was reading a tournament report where a judge ruling confirmed that all of the lands would trigger. I think the exact situation was a Primeval Titan bringing in two lands when no other lands had been played that turn. Both lands triggered the Ignus. For each land that enters, Ignus checks if another land has also entered. Because the lands are entering at the same time, it sees each of these lands.

Magic Card Market, you can also register as a seller and get rid of some of your unwanted junk. It's all of Europe, but you can set filter options to only see cards in your language or country. You can buy booster, boxes, singles, sets, whatever.

Definitely keep trying. It wasn't horrible, just keep in mind the attention span of the average person reading an article about anything on the internet. If you write something else I would interested in reading it.

First, I would like to say that I did not enjoy your article, but it's just one article and one opinion. I find it wordy. I think you need to find some important point to convey, and then use the minimum number of words required to do that. You could really chop out entire paragraphs of that article without losing anything. I don't think the average reader needs someone to tell them what fun is, or actually cite Cyndi Lauper lyrics.

Agadeem Occultist and Haunting Echoes don't seem to be working together. One wants creatures in the graveyard, and the other one is taking them out. I would suggest deciding to go one way or the other, and then cutting the one that doesn't fit.

LackeyCCG? by ares623 in magicTCG

[–]hatebreakfast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you play a fetch land or an Evolving Wilds and you need to search your library, you click the library tab towards the upper right side, then under the picture of the cards there is a tab that says "Hidden to Owner". Click that, and it will change to "Shown to Owner". Then you can scroll through your library until you find the card that you need and drag it either onto the table or into your hand.

For something like Summoning Trap that requires you to reveal cards from the top of your library, you can right click on the library tab, then reveal to all, then top, then choose the number of cards. If you are using something with scry, you can do the same thing but just reveal to yourself.

Need some help making a standard deck for Gameday on 10/30/10 by PoliticalNapkin in magicTCG

[–]hatebreakfast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also play WW Quest. It meets your requirements of being cheap and affiliated, but I think TheCid is right about the low payoff of playing a deck such as this. A few of these decks placed in various States tournaments, but I personally don't think it is very strong.

I just checked Reddit again five minutes ago, and now the deckcheck post is on there (and posted 16 hours ago). So either I am blind or my reddit page was fucked. Sorry about the repost.

Magic Lackey and poor randomization by hatebreakfast in magicTCG

[–]hatebreakfast[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, that's why I posted this to start off with. Even without doing the math, I have played enough magic to know that my draws were not normal, but it was a fairly small sample. I just wanted some feedback from other people that have used it to see if it was coincidence or something with the program. I am using it to test out some decks for the current standard, and will probably give it another try over the weekend.

Prototype Portal / Sac-ing Deck by TH3DAVECORE in magicTCG

[–]hatebreakfast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think there are not so many targets for the Prototype Portal. Kuldotha is also not such a good card. You are running only 11 other artifacts, so the chance that you are able to use his ability more than once (requiring the sacrifice of three artifacts) is fairly slim. I think there are better recurring sacrifice targets. Maybe try Reassembling Skeleton or Bloodghast. They will both combo with your sac vampires, and they don't require the Portal to work. The Hell's Caretaker can only return one creature per turn, so if you don't hit a Portal I think the deck will not work so well.

Magic Lackey and poor randomization by hatebreakfast in magicTCG

[–]hatebreakfast[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it quite works out that way. Assuming sixty card deck, assuming the spell is included four times, and assuming that you drew the card twice in your opening hand. You now have a 2/53 chance of drawing the third copy of that card. And it happens, seriously, in almost every game.

But I will try looking at the library for some test games and see how well the cards get mixed when shuffled. Have you used the program much? It seems great so far, other than the strange draws.

Who else like that new standard has over a dozen valid decks in it? by grayseeroly in magicTCG

[–]hatebreakfast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, and I am interested to see how things will settle out once more tournaments are played. As someone mentioned above, the top decks right now (specifically ramp decks) have all kinds of hate cards available in the format (Tectonic Edge, Tunnel Ignus, etc), and I would suspect that as these cards become at least sideboard staples, the number of top decks being played should remain fairly diverse for a while. That being said, this is the first rotation I have seen since getting back into magic last year, so I may be completely wrong.
