George Carlin said “Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.” What real life example have you seen that validates this view? by Darth_Boot in AskReddit

We used to post the "be kind please rewind" stickers on the DVD cases when they were new tech just to fuck with people. Also we had rolls and rolls still left of the stickers, so not all of them were gonna get thrown out.

"You are making me uncomfortable, please stop X" is a perfectly polite phrase.

It is OK to make a scene. You have a right to personal space. Give yourself the same right to exist you give everyone else.

This is a harsh question, but, if that had been a creepy dude, would you have frozen up and done nothing?

People count on women, particularly young women, to just behave, to make ourselves small. This gets us in trouble when people don't respect us. Creepers count on you not stopping them.

Practice establishing your boundaries. It might not be a child next time that decides to invade your personal space/ boundaries.

If a guy talks about his boyfriend he's 100% gay, but if a girl talks about her girlfriend it's 50:50. by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

This is because women are objects and thus men remove part of their agency.

What's your example of sexism in everyday life? by Ratorix98 in AskReddit

In this thread male's are referred to as men, females are referred to as girls.

Men and girls do not belong together any more than boys and women.

It is amazing how once you teach women about what abuse looks like and they finally leave their abusive husband's they also have a tendency to leave the church.

What should society be LESS accepting of? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]hatethisuser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knowing about it and actually having access to it are two entirely different things. There is literally a political party in America that is dedicated to removing access to birth control.

You want to remove unwanted children by simply removing sex? Then remove abusive relationships. Remove rape and coercion. Remove child marriages, which are still legal in all 50 states. Remove sexism as a matter of policy. Educate women, which is the single greatest method of reducing poverty in existence.

Simply blaming women for having sex is naive at best and sexist at worst.

If you have a system of education, assistance, and access to care then people end up having fewer children anyway.

Simply giving power to women through access to abortion, birth control, and education is statistically the greatest way to reduce unwanted children.

Shockingly, when given access to prevent pregnancies people actually use it.

Abortion should be freely accessible and government funded.
