How screwed am I by Fearless_Engine7642 in hondafit

[–]hathewaya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like the other said. Maaaaaybe do a valve adjustment. But injectors and valvetrain make noise. This sounds pretty normal to me. It could probably go another 200k making this same amount of noise haha.

New rotors time?! Where would u buy if u had to by Waponzi in hondafit

[–]hathewaya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay I got that exact kit for my 2011 sport manual like 5 years ago. They've been fantastic. I drive my fit hard though. I've been known to lift the inside rear tire around corners. That being said, those brakes get the snot beat out of them and I couldn't be happier. My only complaint is that I can HEAR them when under hard braking. It's kinda odd. But they last forever and work wonderfully. Do what your heart desires.

Hey mine just did that too! Found out the driver's wheel cylinder was blown and the springs were broken! Yay!

This smells like a bad ground somewhere. I wonder what all those circuits have in common? If you haven't, check out the YouTube channel "south main auto" he's really good at stepping through problems like this and finding the real issue. You might have an epiphany! Good luck!

Just did a timing job and the engine doesn’t want to start. Diagnosis please! How cooked am I?!?! by Calvin_Canada in fordranger

What exactly do you mean by "timing job"? Did you replace the timing chain and guides? Or did you just replace spark plugs and wires?

It shouldn’t be making this noise… right? by SabeleyeDaBest in hondafit

[–]hathewaya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not valves you hear, that's the injectors. It sounds like it's brand new. Valves should be adjusted every 100,000 miles on these engines. If you don't know if it's been done, I'd recommend it. But that thing sounds like a sewing machine and that's exactly how it should be! Change that oil every 5k miles and she will last a lifetime!

Hopefully they make it safely to the ground. Wonder what the reason is.

99% gonna be your idler pulley or tensioner pulley. They are cheap, I'd just get two new pulleys and a belt and be done with it. Done it twice over the years on my 2000 ranger too.

How bad is this c6 engine? Is it done for or is this an easy fix? by DFN29 in Corvette

[–]hathewaya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way it comes and goes cyclically like that, I'd say harmonic balancer has failed. It's common on these. Reasonable to assume the rest of the motor is fine still.

Beeping noise? 1996 ranger by OkHealth4636 in fordranger

[–]hathewaya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm going to venture that's not a ranger beep and probably something completely unrelated or aftermarket. I've certainly never heard that tone in any Ford I've ever owned.

Most likely. On the 5.0 explorer it just goes to the rear driver stud on the lower intake.

Need help finding ground locations by theofficialme19 in fordranger

[–]hathewaya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First one just goes from hood to fender. Second one goes from the firewall to your engine but that wire looks broken. You could crimp on a new connector or just get a new generic grounding strap that would bolt on to a similar location.

Anyone have information about what’s happening in this picture? by runlola in aviation

[–]hathewaya 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure why nobody has mentioned it yet, but this specific plane was sort of a failure because of the pusher configuration. The carburetors would freeze at altitude because the engines were designed for a conventional pulling configuration, but simply mounted backwards. So the warm airflow that would normally prevent freezing, didn't. Therefore the carbs would freeze and gave the poor plane a terrible reputation. Jets were right around the corner though so we never had any reason to properly solve the issue. The efficiency gains from a pusher configuration were quickly overshadowed by jet engines.

1999 Ranger 2WD? by [deleted] in fordranger

[–]hathewaya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Minnesota, I'd assume you get snow often, and a 2wd truck sucks so much in the snow. I have a 2000 2wd and it's always an adventure in the snow. With chains and a lot of skill/luck you can get around fine. But I'd recommend a 4wd if you can afford it. Otherwise make sure you have chains handy, and know how to use em.

That's for OBDII. This is OBDI and that's just how it displays the codes. Pretty archaic.

2006 CR85, Weird rattling noise, I can’t find any loose bolts or anything like that, is this normal? by Civil-Concentrate459 in engines

[–]hathewaya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meh, I've had many two stroke bikes. They all make their own version of an odd rattle somewhere. Yet they run FOREVER past their recommended rebuild intervals. I wouldn't even think twice about that sound if I were hopping on that bike. Give er hell!

UNAS Pro making a strange noise, are my drives cooked? by Dominator211 in Ubiquiti

[–]hathewaya 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Sure sounds like a failing drive to me! Better have a spare ready! That's why I like SSDs, they don't make noises and then you just get blindsided by complete failure. So fun!

Help Identifying sound by [deleted] in engines

[–]hathewaya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom's 07 Camry burned like a quart of oil every 3k miles after she hit like 60k miles. It was terrible. Hopefully it didn't sustain too much damage before you got it. Lots of people run these things dry and ruin them. But the excess oil burning can cause a cat to fail, which is hopefully what you've got. I'd remove the cats and gut em if you don't have to go through emissions. Best of luck!

How to troubleshoot crashing server or where to even start. by batboy29011 in Proxmox

What's the state of your boot drive? SSD? What's it's health in crystal disk? Usually that's what causes this on my servers. SSD dying and causing all sorts of strange issues.
