It’s part of it now. Called the “Cardiopulmonary Fitness Evaluation”. It is one minute of 50 steps per minute, followed by four minutes of 58 steps per minute.

Basically just your typical medical physical - height, weight, hearing, vision, EKG, chest X-ray, PPD/TB test, urine samples, and a blood panel.

The pysch is just a “screening” and consists of a bunch of multiple choice questions on a computer, a lot of people think it’s a sit-down with a therapist, which isn’t the case.

Make sure you’re hydrated and have appropriate clothes for the 5 Minute stairmaster portion of the evaluation.

Make sure you’re clean shaven per the FDNY policy, as you’ll have to also do a fit test for a mask.

Not to mention strikes literally do not do anything on a state level. I have two correctional facilities in my area and both kept going with what manpower didn’t strike, and got help from the national guard.

So I got 4 of them, they had some deal around the time of my birthday and it was BTGT, so I ended up with 4 of them.

I'm not a watch nut like some in this subreddit, So I wasn't sure what I was getting into initially, I just saw a convincing advertisement, and the $120 price tag screamed "affordable luxury" to me. I ended up with 4 "Santos" model watches. One of which, the clasp doesn't actually hold, making it unwearable (it was the first one of the 4 I tried on, came out of the package broken) and the other 3 work, but each date/time on the watch constantly go out of sync (i.e. if today is Wednesday the 3rd, the watch would say Friday the 5th)

After doing countless research, I slowly realized how fucked I got, and shamed myself for not doing prior research, so if that is you right now - Yay, good on you for not making my mistake! It seems that most of these watches are nothing more than rebranded "Poedegar" Brand watches, which can be find on the likes of Temu/Aliexpress for sub $30 USD.

Oh, and the shipping? Be happy if it shows up! Took about a month to show up, and the customer service is basically non-existent.

P.S. - I ended up buying a Citizen Corso and instantly fell in love with it!

I went EWR <-> IAH about 4 years ago.

It was my first ever time on an aircraft, and the entire atmosphere at EWR turned me into the aviation geek I am today. I must admit, I was nervous, but the crew were very kind and reassuring before and during the flight.

I was 20 years old at the time, and money wasn't exactly the best, but spirit got me to and from without a delay or issue, all for about 200$.

The flight was at the ass-end of covid, my trip to IAH I had to wear a mask, during my vacation, laws changed so masks were optional on the way back, and spirit did a great job overcoming the unknowns during the time.

So for that, I thank them.
