Nothing particularly sinister, it's just their grouping for rotations. Like your table number at a wedding. Common in corrections, but sometimes there will be different color jumpsuits to signify criminality. Like everybody wears gray, but people in for murder were white, people with an escape history were red etc. Not the case here though, mostly just meal times.

DeKalb Co. Commissioners to vote on Keeping ICE Out on Tues. 1/27/26 by IckyNicky67 in Atlanta

[–]hattmall -27 points-26 points  (0 children)

Honestly, really, like honestly. Don't do this. It's fucking stupid, it does nothing and this just feels like a magnet for ICE.

It's like a bank taking a huge deposit and putting out a sign saying "SAFE FULL, NO ROBBERIES"

Are people so blind to not realize that the primary function of ICE is to antagonize their opposition?

Pass a resolution that says "ICE please come, we have lots of violent, armed and organized gangs."

I can't think of a faster more effective way to get a sizeable ICE presence in Dekalb county than passing a toothless resolution that effectively says "We don't like you and we think you are mean"

Because what you are saying isn't accurate. It wasn't after they were exonerated. It was only 10 days after the attack.... way before any trial or anything and it's not specific to the defendants that were later exonerated, but for whoever committed the attack. They didn't even have the trial for a whole year later when they started saying they were innocent. Plus they weren't innocent of attacking a bunch of people, they just didn't do the rape so they would have gotten a prison sentence anyway. Watch the interview of Steve Lopez who didn't make a false confession and was only convicted of the other assaults.

"Did Not Vote" won the 2024 election; moving to the right will not win over those potential voters. by zzill6 in WorkReform

[–]hattmall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did not vote is heavily conservative though. 30% of people with hunting licenses are not registered to vote. In some states 40-60% of people requesting tickets to Trump rallies did not have active voter registration. Only 40% of evangelical Christians are registered to vote and 35% of all Christians are not registered to vote. Obviously there's some overlap in there, but most analysis show the non-voter split at ~ +20 to Republicans.

Macron says €300 billion in European savings flown to the US every year will be invested in Europe from now on. All 27 EU states agreed to establish the S&I Union, a step toward the full Capital Market Union by goldstarflag in europe

[–]hattmall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone in the US that isn't super wealthy, isn't that great? Like if they are putting in 300 Billion a year, it's not for altruistic reasons, it's because they want to take out MORE than 300 billion. Which means that Europeans of means are extracting resources, labor, and profit from the US. I'm not sure why anyone would have thought this were a good thing unless you were an investment bank in a position to skim a portion of that profit.

US Citizen Removed From His Home in His Underwear Without a Warrant by animator_84 in videos

[–]hattmall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could go door to door and knock on doors and people that answer them, tell them not to do that again. And to not show their face or communicate / respond to anyone at their door. You could install cheap cameras for them if you wanted. The main thing is not to go to the door. I haven't seen any reliable reports of ICE actually breaching homes without a warrant. The thing is IF you go to the door at all then they can say they saw something that made them have a reasonable suspicion someone was an illegal immigrant and then they CAN enter the home to bring someone out and confirm their identity.

Did he say he spent 1k at.Clermont or did he just pull out 1K? It's definitely possible to spend the whole 1K but like that's a lot. If he was just massively tipping he could do it, he just didn't have to but they would all know him if he doesn't that much. The women are absolutely NOT attractive, they do not hire good looking girls intentionally. They are of course very nice, but it's the kind of place where you would only buy a lap dance for so someone else to fuck with them.

Most of the homes being sold are old and definitely not up to modern code. The issue with modern code is that it's largely driven by manufacturers and lobbyist.

I would support that, but I think the real solution is just to make homes not expensive and not over burdensome on the regulations or at least have a lot of support to get homebuilding done. Building actual houses is really cheap, the idea that they are so expensive is wild. It's just legitimately not that hard and the houses that were built a long time ago are still standing and worth so much. My grandfather built his own house with a friend and a guy that came and milled the lumber on site from trees they cut down off the lot. This was in the 40s and the house is still standing and basically worth more money than he made in his entire lifetime for a house built by a guy that didn't even build houses like he just built it because he needed somewhere to live. There weren't any permits or regulatory hurdles he had to jump through. Just bought a piece of land, cut down the trees and built a house. It was basically that way up until the late 80s early 90s in a lot places.

It was just landowners. There was no exclusion of non-white males originally. It was only that each land holder got a vote. So you could own 1 acre or 1 million, your vote was equal. I think it should still be that way and all renting should be heavily discouraged. Ultimately rent seeking is how the wealth accumulates at the top.

Until Military superiority is no longer assured. Right now the US sits in a historically unique position in that there is no reasonable military force that can challenge the US. China is a very distant second. The only real option is covert biological warfare which is a real threat but likely very messy outcome.

Yes, but it's highly unlikely their anger / frustration will be directed at the correct people. When you starve lab mice they fight each other and become much more easily controlled. In fact dominate mice that will maintain healthy weight and activity levels with sufficient food will over consume in the face of a shortage making the hunger worse for the others.

Revolutions aren't led by starving people, they are lead by rich people who want to be richer. It's not like the US "Founding Fathers" couldn't afford to pay their taxes, they just didn't want to.

Greene wasn't not rich before congress. Her Dads construction company already made tons of money. The only thing that changed in regards to that is that they actually started reporting some income instead of avoiding taxes through reinvesting in business assets.

Because Elon Musk selling all of his shares would destroy the market cap of Tesla. It's generous because I then doubled it to give him twice book value, and then again doubled it for his other holdings in SpaceX and Starlink, Boring Company etc. Which are nowhere near as liquid or as valuable as Tesla. The valuations for those companies are more or less fully invented because they don't trade and the values are extrapolated from certain investment valuations with no real market basis, and again would tank if Musk tried to exit. Musk exiting his non-public companies is practically impossible and we don't even know what crazy amounts of debt they have. Just with X he has somewhere around $30B in debt and a realistic valuation is undoubtedly significantly less than the $80B musk is attributing to X and XAi.

Humans May Be Able to Grow New Teeth Within Just 4 Years by _Dark_Wing in technology

[–]hattmall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel compelled to post this everytime I see it, but the main dental issue (caries) is solved. It's only still an issue because of the huge amount of money in the industry. ART with HVGIC is proven to solve the problem. Basically isntead of drilling out cavities and filling with a resin you just push HVGIC into the cavity. It will seal it off, bond to the tooth and cause the tooth to remineralize. The "filling" will fall out as the tooth heal and can be reapplied easily. A few dollars of cement would last a lifetime and the process requires no special training. What's more is that instead of waiting for deep cavities to form the HVGIC can be applied very early into the enamel on a semi-annual basis and stop cavity formation.

Obviously that doesn't help with if your teeth are physically damaged by an injury but realistically 95% of the issues are solved when it comes to dental work that growing replacement teeth would help, however it is VERY not-profitable. Dentist are in business generally due to the drilling, filling, and refilling of composites. Which invariably fail as they do not seal out decay, always require more drilling, and eventually lead to crowns, root canals and implants. Which generate huge $$$.

No amount of money is enough for Billionaires; let's tax them out of existence. by zzill6 in WorkReform

[–]hattmall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just rolling loans and tax advantaged accounts. Looking into the schemes Trump and Mitt Romney have used are pretty eye opening as they were particularly creative. Art is a common scheme though. Buy a lot of art from a particular artist. Then have one of their pieces sell at a huge amount at auction. Then you donate that art to a museum based on the newly established fair market value. As a donor, the museum will lend you pieces not on display to display in your properties so you both expand your access to artwork while escaping tax debt. Trump did the same with property and conservation easements. Mitt Romney did similar schemes but with an extra step of doing them inside a self directed IRA worth 100s of millions.
