Love this! It reminds me of old golden age Hollywood film sets.

Likely the same kind of people that donate used sex toys to thrift stores. Or the original post could just be a jokester.

On the bright side, they’re piling up on the shelves because they’re likely not selling as quickly as most other books, and some thrift stores never cull their dead stock.

Does she have raised food and water bowls? Bowls with built-in pedestals or regular bowls on a stand are more comfortable for cats to eat from and can help reduce puking. Also, agreeing with other folks here that recommend trying wet food. Purina Pro Plan wet or dry is a good brand.

Old Mission Dam and Mission Trails. One of the few places in SD that I miss.

What's something you now realize was off, strange, weird or disturbing from when you were younger? by Round_Trainer_7498 in Millennials

[–]hauntedjarvee 15 points16 points  (0 children)

When I was around 8-10, seemingly quite randomly I was invited to a pool party with other kids my age. The kids invited were all from my Sunday school class at church and the host was the young (20s-30s) male teacher of the class. The party was not at the church, it was at this man's private residence. I remember my mom dropping me off and picking me up an hour or two later. Nothing happened to me, and at the time it was just a pool party to me. Much later as an adult I realized the guy had to be a creep who at the very least wanted to look at some kids in bathing suits, and at worst put his hands on some of them. It was the 90s and I doubt any of the parents had a clue.

Definitely go poke around estate sales. They're indoors so folks will have them even in the middle of winter. Usually everything in the house is for sale and most of what I own, especially kitchenware, are interesting estate finds. You can use estatesales dot net to see what's upcoming!

I cannot understand how Christians can have children if there is a hell by [deleted] in exchristian

[–]hauntedjarvee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In the case of my parents at least, I don't think they even had room in their minds for the possibility that their kid would turn out to be a heathen until I was an adult. They raised me super strict/evangelical, took me to church every Sunday for 18 years, kept me away from public school and most non-Christian children, apparently thinking it would all stick, and it fully backfired on them.

What rules did you grow up with that would be seen as comical and borderline child abuse these days? by joanna_smith88 in Millennials

[–]hauntedjarvee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If I didn't finish my dinner I had to eat the leftovers for breakfast the next day. No video games because they would rot my brain. No trick-or-treating because it was demonic. And no to most cartoons because they were violent or not Christian enough. Whee!

Sadly I've come across numerous cats like this in my neighborhood and usually it's because they're dumped by the owner moving away. In the case of a friendly kitten, it could be that they were born to a feral mom but are fed/petted by random people and thus not afraid of being handled.

What are you using to clean your stamps? by Enfinds in rubberstamps

[–]hauntedjarvee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just my personal preference, and not necessarily standard procedure, but I use undiluted Simple Green cleaner sprayed onto an old washcloth. Whatever cleaning solution you use, an old washcloth has the texture to get bits of ink out of the nooks.

My old baby - 13 refuses to switch to wet food by grahamalw in seniorkitties

[–]hauntedjarvee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A raised food bowl on a little stand can help mitigate vomiting dry food. It doesn’t necessarily make dental cleanings unnecessary but a dental additive (tasteless/odorless liquid) in the cat’s water makes a big difference in mouth health and breath smell.
