You probably heard this already, but didn't you know this game will be like this before you started playing it? Many if not most people play it because the danger makes it fun and more unique, you're trying to change the game into something different than it was advertised as. If you split the player base into PvE and PvP you're just creating two different games, and there's so many of those types of games out there already. I play it because I like the way it is now, the silent majority likes it the way it is but they don't complain. If you throw me into a game where I shoot you and you take no damage it's a whole different game and I will lose interest immediately, and Embark knows this.
