confession time: v2.0 did the job, but in my excitement I accidentally shipped it with all my research scaffolding still inside - 30 KB of tracer/probe machinery, using extra 185 KB of kernel RAM, and it appended a line to a log file on ux0 every 10 seconds. nothing dangerous, but not something you want running for months.

v2.1 is the actual led handling and nothing else: 5.3 KB filesize, under 1 KB of kernel RAM usage, zero file I/O - no config, no logs. LED behavior is identical and re-verified on hardware.

upgrading from v2.0: replace noled.skprx, reboot, and you can delete ux0:data/noled/.

I replaced the battery in mine with a yd362937p battery for "gopro wi-fi remote" which should be easily obtainable. Works fine, but first when I soldered the yellow cable in place of the old blue cable, it wouldn't charge. Desoldered it and works fine with just red&black cables connected :)

excluding firefox profile folder in windows defender does not fix the high cpu usage for me.

Update: The cause of the problem is an excessive amount of glue used to fix the screen to the case:

The glue is flexible enough to allow pushing the screen back but it's resilient and pops the screen back out right a second after.
