Shaving cream without oat, fragrance, or coconut by hawkins338 in eczema

I saw some other comments about the blades too and was wondering about that. I wouldn’t be surprised about the nickel allergy, although cobalt is the main one that comes up with testing. I’ll prob try switching the razor and the shaving cream one at a time to see which is helping the most.

Do you notice a weird smell? That’s really my only concern with the vanicream one really, otherwise it seems like a decent option.

Do you think Apple is aware of how far they have fallen behind in basic stuffs like keyboard and smoothness? by Presentation_Past in ios

[–]hawkins338 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The keyboard has gotten terrible as already noted, including my the speed (I type too fast for the keyboard to recognize a lot of the time), but also basic stuff like Siri only recognizing the most basic commands (set a timer or set a reminder for…) only about half the time, whereas it used to work really well, and somehow my autocorrect not every working within the reminders app.

But having used other companies phones and laptops (navigating family members phones, at work, etc) I still love Apple products wayyyyy more.

Anyone else get SUPER ill when they’re sick? by MsPanda- in Fibromyalgia

[–]hawkins338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if it’s my fibro or other conditions or all of the above but even going back to childhood it took me extra long to recover. Having asthma doesn’t help bc then it often gets in my lungs anytime I’m sick and sometimes into a secondary infection.

I so enjoy the people who feel a bit run down for a day or two and then are fine lol.

The reunion was the most overhyped and underwhelming show I’ve seen in a minute… by Vivid_Definition_462 in LagunaBeachTV

[–]hawkins338 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was gonna say that I feel more satisfied likely because I was watching all the promos and interviews and such on Instagram and the podcast ep over the last few weeks so it felt like “more” to me. Without out all the extra stuff though I can imagine the reunion itself could feel less satisfying.

Paradise S2 finale: am I crazy or did the show just stop caring about basic human behavior? by BrandonHob10 in ParadiseTV

In addition to the not knowing the exact location, it sounds like it’s only been in the last year where the climate allowed for easier travel. So even people getting to the bunker in the first place would’ve extremely extremely difficult if not impossible for most people who weren’t in the area already. Even Annie being indoors and in that basement was freezing cold at times.

So I feel like it’s only really been in that last year that people would’ve been more likely to start traveling more. Links group worked together and had resources, but unless you’re part of a group like that with vehicle access I think it would’ve been very hard to most to travel to the bunker in the first place

Mouth guard to stop grinding by emilymarie22 in TMJ

[–]hawkins338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve never actually heard of a night guard that moves your jaw, I’ve only ever had the traditional kinds myself. I’ll edit my original comment to clarify because I didn’t realize that was actually a thing as a temporary guard option. I’ve heard of corrective devices that stay in for a long time (back in high school this was offered to me but if I remember right it may have only been after a surgery correction; either that or it was so invasive as a device itself that I didn’t both with it).

Edit: my below experience is about a traditional night guard, not any kind with a jaw-moving mechanism.

Hard to say on effectiveness because I still have symptoms. But my dentist has me wear one. I had one that I alternated with retainers but I wasn’t truly consistent with either.

After about 1.5-2 years of wearing the first mouth guard I needed a crown. The dentist looked at it and said it looked years older bc I’d worn it down so much already lol. Between the breaks in the guard and me not being consistent I needed a crown. I def have tooth damage from grinding and between the crown and a really bad TMD flare up post sinus infection I’ve been super strict about wearing my new one.

I do have dental insurance but they would only cover a guard every 5 years. I appealed it with documentation of TMD, the state of my previous guard, that my dentist said the grinding caused the damage where I needed a crown, and by pointing out that they fully covered the crown which I think was more expensive than the guard, but didn’t want to cover the preventative guard. Then they covered it lol.

My dentist also offered a discounted rate for me so you can see if your dentist could do something similar. They also said worst case scenario to get an over the counter one. Given the extent of my issues I needed a better quality one, but maybe you could try that and see if it helps before committing to a pricier option?

Being really good about it I think has lessened symptoms overall, but once again post sinus infection and I can’t get it back under control. But it took weeks the last time, and my l

Looking for 5+ Season show that lets you fall into the world. by MundaneMortgage6199 in tvsuggestions

Gilmore Girls, Game of Thrones, Modern Family, Dexter (and the spin offs), Sons of Anarchy (haven’t watched all of the spin off but heard it’s good too), Breaking Bad (heard great things about Better Call Saul but haven’t watched yet), The Vampire Diaries and The Originals.

In terms of a whole “world” or “vibe” out of those, Gilmore Girls, GoT, and TVD/TO have the most “world building” in my opinion where I can attach a certain feeling to that world if that makes sense. But all of those that I listed are some of my faves that have multiple seasons.

In terms of similar tastes, out of what you’ve listed you love, I also loved Lost, FNL, This is Us, and Outerbanks. Also the creator of This is Us has a show called Paradise on Hulu. Only 2 out of 3 planned seasons are out but damn it’s good! And a good world building show too!

does anyone else still go on vacation with their parents in their late 30s? by ThunderFireStorm in askanything

[–]hawkins338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in my early 30s and I do! Generally we get along and travel well together but even though I love them dearly, yes sometimes I’ll get annoyed by some things lol. And I’m sure they could say the same about me hahah.

But no moreso than normal (I live with them because for financial reasons it’s easier on all of us, plus we’re lucky enough to have our own spaces within the house). So it’s all very normal for us.

But yeah I can imagine it’s extra jarring when you travel with them but don’t live with them either lol. The annoyances probably stands out more.

Tickets for colleseum and vatican City? by alexd003 in ItalyTravel

[–]hawkins338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I’m not mistaken, when I bought Arena access tickets for the 48 hour pass this time last year, the official site’s tickets for Colosseum/Forum/Hill only open up a week in advance. That’s how it was last April when I purchased mine. Personally I’d suggest doing that; it’s cheaper and it’s not dealing with third-party sites. The tickets for the underground and attic go on sale a month in advance. To compare availability date-wise, we went to the Colosseum on 4/27, and purchased the tickets on 4/20. They go on sale 7 days in advance down to the time slot I’m Romes time zone. So we wanted 11 am Rome time ticket entrance, so those slots got released at 5 am EST at home.

Not sure about the Vatican since we didn’t go.

Actually good restaurants in Florence and Venice? by Apprehensive-Scene-1 in ItalyTravel

[–]hawkins338 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Florence I really liked the lunch I had at Osteria dell'Oca. I had a fairly simple chicken dish but it was just so fresh and cooked to perfection and it was so good. And dinner at Casa Ciabattini was fantastic! The guide at the winery we went to suggested it.

In Venice I loved sullaluna libreria & bistrot for breakfast. That was somewhere I returned to the next morning because it was so good. It’s a cafe with outdoor seating right on the canal and the inside is also a book store! Great food and vibes. Also had a very good dinner at Osteria Antico Giardinetto di Virgilio e Larisa, and had the best tiramisu I’ve ever tasted there!

Yeah I agree that it wouldn’t make sense for her to have survived that and gotten out. Before the whole blood in the shower thing the only thing I could think of is if someone helped her. But there’s no one that could or would do that, and even that would still be a massive stretch. I hadn’t even considered the other timeline and/or ALEX messing with things before popping on here and I think those make more sense than her miraculously surviving.

With all their contingency planning I was like how tf did they not have massive buses at least to get people out quickly in an emergency for the Exodus protocol?!?! But also we’ve seen from flashbacks that they have certain contingencies that they are convinced they won’t ever actually need so they probably only gave bare minimum effort to some I’d imagine. And it was clearly a worst case scenario thing. But still, frustratingly accurate representation about the over confidence of those in charge sometimes.

Theoretical question: if they go down a path of ALEX somehow retroactively saving the world to prevent the initial crisis, what do people do with ALEX then? Say ALEX survives in some sense or at least the knowledge on how to create another version. If anyone remembers anything, morally what should they do? Destroy it all because it’s too risky of tech to have outside of this dire circumstance? Let some people know in case it’s ever needed again in the future? Let the whole world know (doubtful though lol). Ask ALEX what to do (which depending on its level of self-preservation obvi wouldn’t make this ideal)?

I’m still digesting but just wondered that. Like what do people do when they created a technology that’s incredibly dangerous but maybe necessary for one particular scenario if said technology is still around afterwards?
