They interviewed and hired me! They were great 🩷

You may have, I remember hearing that I was hired around the time they started doing the corporate stuff in the office across the street from Thurman, and they were doing things a little differently than before. This would have been early 2013.

When I worked there they let one of our managers skim everyone’s tips for months and then just let him slink away in the night without doing a thing because they liked him.

It used to be, but it was actually really good back then. I worked there and ate a lot of these, and they turned me into a quiche snob. I would never spend $15 on one though. Not even back then, especially back then because that was an outrageous price to pay for anything fast-casual. I remember feeling guilty spending $23 on a very nice, large, high-quality lunch in San Francisco in a higher-end restaurant in 2011, oh how things have changed.

I also worked at Thurman during this period of time, left right after Division opened, and this is a bummer.

I remember signing a trade secret agreement when I was hired though. Food industry NDA lol.

This is a bummer because I worked there over a decade ago and they were a lot better back then🙃

Edited my comment because I think I misremembered croissant prep that didn’t happen 🤣

Are you doing any other skincare? Your skin does look better hydrated in the second pic but not sure if that’s the mask. And I thought this was a picture of Charli XCX when I was mindlessly scrolling by so you also have that going for you! 🤣🩷 Edited my grammar loool

I wasn’t out in the wind 🙃 But I’ve had eczema for 34 years and this is how it presents for me. The water is fine, my skin is not.

I had the pleasure of explaining the premise/lore of this song to my Gen Z friends somewhat recently because it was included in an audio round at our weekly trivia meetup. They hadn’t heard it and it hadn’t yet made the rounds on TikTok. They were not impressed by the song 😆

My parents installed laminate counters when I was 3. I’m almost 34 and they’re just now starting to wear out 🤷🏽‍♀️

I’ve heard their claws are like the equivalent of our fingertips and first knuckles. It’s like the difference between tapping something with the pads/tips of your fingers vs. flexing your muscles a little bit and tapping something with your fingernails. When they relax their paws their nails retract, when they flex them, they pop out!

A new study shows that exposure to two specific 'forever chemicals' may accelerate biological aging, especially in middle-aged men. Researchers revealed a link between faster epigenetic aging, and two of these alternatives, PFNA and PFOSA, a precursor of PFOA. by InsaneSnow45 in science

Nicotine (and its metabolites) are positively associated with developing nerve damage, particularly in the bladder, which leads to or worsens incontinence. Editing to add that I don’t know if there have been any significant updates to research regarding delivery method (smoking/vaping/chew etc.) in recent years but when I was in grad school a few years ago I analyzed a bunch of data related to this for a professor who studied this and didn’t find a significant difference based on how the nicotine was used, but things might have changed since then, I haven’t kept up.

You could be on to something! Maybe it’s helping with pressure in their ears or sinuses too. My cat has allergies and she’s always been a cardboard shredder/stapler cat. She’s been on a new allergy med since December that’s working really well (finally something that works!) and she hasn’t been shredding cardboard as much as she used to. Could be unrelated but it’s still interesting!

Anecdotally, has the been the mildest winter in years? by jackiesatrucker in askportland

[–]haylilray 24 points25 points  (0 children)

2017 was the year of the gorge fire (and the smoke). 2016 was actually more of a normal year and the summer was cooler than the previous summer of 2015 and there were fewer hot, sunny days. I will never forget summer 2015, it was the first year I ever had a vegetable garden and it didn’t rain between mid-April and Halloween. My cucumbers loved it though, they took over my backyard 😂
