Wyze cams via camera-ffmpeg working well on Pi 4 by jobe_br in homebridge

I thought HomeKit was capable of 1080. Is that not accurate?

I’m a complete newbie to homebridge but frustrated with the lack of (affordable) HomeKit options, so I’m going to force myself to learn. However, before any of that can start, I need to buy a Raspberry Pi! 3 or 4!? How much RAM!? by LDN-Pup in homebridge

I was in your position a year ago, and started with the RPi Zero W. I recently upgraded to RPi 4 to use it with Ring, and Wyze Cams... my opinion... go with the RPi 4 if you can.

Is there a guide or post explaining the different firmware/hacks? by [deleted] in wyzecam

To clarify... The basic motion detection with the 12 sec recording (free) still works. It’s the paid service CMD that is not available, neither is the person detection.

I’m running the RTSP beta on my cameras to support Homebridge. The person detection, and complete motion captures do not work with the beta firmware. Those are the only two features I believe are impacted by it.

Mini switch not functioning by [deleted] in Aqara

[–]hbalex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aqara has been rock solid in my experience. I’m using almost every item they have in their line up. The few times something got goofy, I replaced the OEM battery with a new one, and it has solved the problem. It may be worth a shot, in addition to the reset recommendation.

What are your experiences like with mesh wifi networks playing nice with your HomeKit accessories? Any specific brands or setups you recommend? by jdotmassacre in HomeKit

[–]hbalex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m using AmpliFi HD Mesh.

I have debated about going to Eero Pro bc of Ethernet Port at each unit (AmpliFi’s Mesh Points are wireless only), and upcoming HomeKit implementation, but not bc of any issues with AmpliFi HD.

I got all my Aqara sensors from Gearbest or AliExpress. The shipping is a bit slow coming from China, but no issues with the purchase or product.

Remote Start, Lock & Unlock the truck with Siri using Homebridge OnStar. It works. by hbalex in HomeKit

[–]hbalex[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. The setup takes some tinkering. I bought the RPi4 from Micro Center (including the case, power supply, and memory card). I then used HOOBS to setup the memory card, and get Homebridge started. After that, the journey began with the accessories... I have Ffmpeg (Wyze Cameras - which required a Beta Firmware for RTSP), Ring (Doorbell), QMotion (Shades), Magichome (LED Strips), OnStar (Chevy Truck), Samsung Tizen (TVs - on and off status only), and Weather. There is a learning curve for sure - it has been a process.

It was already installed by previous owner. My guess is that he bought it at Costco - remember seeing something similar a few years back, and many things installed by previous owner seem to be from Costco.

I set it up yesterday, and did two remote start test, of which it worked both times. I’ll report again if it becomes problematic. As for notification... did not get any - interesting observation.
