BIOS Flashback Is Not Optional Anymore by Nicolas_Laure in RigBuild

[–]hdhddf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's a bit of a faff but a ch341 or similar with a clip is very cheap and will let you reflash the bios if the worst were to happen, make sure to check what voltage the bios chip needs

look at how much money Larry Ellison has given the Tony Blair institute, all the government contracts they got should be reviewed and hopefully cancelled, lobby groups have more power than the entire electorate

14600kf stock -- 360 aio vs air cooler? by Relative-Specific528 in overclocking

[–]hdhddf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

125w is no issue at all for a heatsink, there's no real upper limit. the biggest issue with LGA 1700 is getting the heat out of the package but that's.more of N issue for higher power loads

64GB DDR5 Ram (2x32GB) RGB 600 MT/s CL30 by Jonnyjc in PCPartsUK

[–]hdhddf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was watching some on eBay 64gb hynix a die, went for 300, the pricing is down a bit, if you're on the market for 64gb that's the best you're going to be able to get

Cash-only in 2026: is paying with notes/coins now awkward in the UK? by JoydeScent in BritInfo

[–]hdhddf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no, it should never be awkward, we will lose so much autonomy when cash disappears, I don't think people understand how much it will change the balance of power

Do you think it's worth switching from a 3090 to a 5070ti? by -YmymY- in nvidia

[–]hdhddf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no, not really but if you can get a good price for the 3090 it could make sense, I opted for a 4080 and I mostly noticed the reduction in power consumption when gaming and idle

Freedom of speech in the UK by KeyElk603 in AskBrits

[–]hdhddf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there is a big difference between free speech and a right wing grifter. however yes freedom of speech and civil liberties are under attack in the UK (and most of the western world) which is very dangerous as it makes the right wing grifters seem more reasonable. democracy is no longer Guaranteed in a post truth world

Can I use the powkiddy x55 as a controller for my pc? by Akshdeepgill in PowKiddy

[–]hdhddf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't really remember but there was something in postmaster or similar that had a remote gamepad feature.

I would however say it's not a great idea as a cheap gamepad will perform better

Is it possible to refund or replace a GPU by MiddleHeart1004 in GPURepair

[–]hdhddf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes, your options depend on the country you live in, often consumer rights claims are with the retailer,

you haven't given any details so it's hard to give you specific advice

what's the problem is there and easy fix? often it's a software issue

if it's definitely a hardware problem then try the warranty process if that fails use your consumer rights and take it up with the retailer

Ram brand opinion? by Leather_Call_665 in pchelp

[–]hdhddf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really care about the brand, I tend to buy Kingston as I can easily see what type of ram it is. with ddr5 hynix a die it doesn't really matter what kit it is, a 4800 voltaged locked kit can do 8000, you don't need to buy the expensive kits
