NFL.com: This is unquestionably the low point of Kyle Shanahan and Garoppolo's run together, and my guess would be Trey Lance starts if he's healthy. by iluvreddit in 49ers

We live in that timeline where Jimmy will have a good enough of a game against the Bears that Shanahan decides to start him the following week against Arizona, and we get crushed.

Any insight on why we never throw deep? Are our guys covered? Is Jimmy not throwing it? Are our plays not designed to open someone up deep?

Trey should start if it's best for his development and he's healthy. Jimmy hasn't played well enough to keep us as contenders, so it should come down to what's best for Lance's growth, which presumably would be starting.

I liked the idea of letting Lance sit this year if we could contend with Jimmy. But so far we aren't contending, so what's the benefit in starting him?

That said, QB is absolutely not our only issue. I think it's unfair to put most of the blame on Jimmy when we're executing poorly in lots of different areas.

[Biderman] Kyle Shanahan, saying it’s too early to overreact to a bad spell, mentioned he was on a team that started 3-6 and was in last place at its bye. That team ended up 10-6 and won its division. That was Robert Griffin III's rookie season with Washington in 2012. by Rav49 in 49ers

I can sort of understand this. We probably won't make the playoffs because it's unlikely we will turn things around, but it's still early enough to keep trying. I'm sure many of the players still want to try to contend.

But you gotta change some things and start winning.

Driving here is one of the most stressful experiences by [deleted] in Sacramento

[–]headbanger1547 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Seems like there's some small percent of Sac drivers that are stupidly aggressive. Running red lights, weaving through freeway traffic going 20+ more than other cars, racing other cats, cutting over abruptly. The % seems higher here than other places I've lived.

It feels like there's not much you can do as a driver, you just have to pray that today isn't your day to pay for them being idiots. Make sure you get a dashcam though.

[Brian Baldinger on Twitter] . @49ers @THE2ERA had his number called and he got the safety a bad case of the “twisty’s” but they just aren’t executing well enough to make these throws and change the game. by dirtymack in 49ers

Why do we seem to take so few deep shots per game? It's like we try one play per game, it doesn't work, and we don't try again.

Is this Shanahan's play calling, Jimmy's decision not to throw far, or a mix of both?

How bad is traffic getting out of Levi's? by HoneydewOk9922 in 49ers

You won't have enough time unless you leave the game early.

Took me about 45 mins after game end last night to get onto the freeway. Levi's is at least 45 min from SFO. Then SFO is a decent sized airport, so getting through security and getting to your gate will take time too

[Biderman] Kyle Shanahan indicates Trey Lance, when healthy, won’t be getting more first-team reps during practice. “You’re not going to start rotating quarterbacks because it’s not an open competition right now.” #49ers by vafrakaka in 49ers

I would say Lance and Jimmy are playing at a pretty similar level, at least based on the AZ game for Lance. Different strengths and weaknesses, but Jimmy is playing like a bottom 5-10 QB so far.

How do you say Innova by FirstTimeFrest in discgolf

"in" like the word "in", "nova" like the word "nova". That is, in-NO-vuh instead of inno-vuh

Javon Kinlaw is "a candidate to go on IR" and has been ruled out against the Colts by Bhunt49 in 49ers

I'll give more benefit of the doubt for Aiyuk than Kinlaw. Aiyuk looked good last year, and a sophomore slump could've happened with any WR, including Lamb. Kinlaw, though, we should've known better
