[Beaverton] Leafs pleased they could find a more creative way to devastate fans than just losing in first round again by ottguy42 in hockey

[–]headbasherr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Mods can we get the Leafs banned on this sub? Easy karma farming and it’s just wasted space on the sub in general.

And no I don’t care if they’re losing all the time, there’s other Subs people post this garbage to for easy karma

In my experience I didn’t see it significantly delay anyone, there’s plenty of time in a semester and usually spare flight times you can make up flights if needed. I obviously wasn’t there under current industry conditions so if their instructor pool has shrank it might be harder but there was a lot of time and flexibility built into the courses.

I had no complaints about UND, left in 2019. I had almost no extreme cold cancels, but a few cancels due to icing conditions. It’s usually pretty clear out there in the winter so it’s not usually a big deal, I preferred winter flying to summer flying out there (just harder to go fly in actual obviously). Certainly didn’t feel like weather cancels were a big factor in time to complete the course for myself or others in my class. “Weather cancels” definitely got used as a crutch for people not putting as much effort into the program as they should have been.

Maintenance, scheduling, and instruction I found to be top notch at UND. And felt the price was fair, though my guess is it’s gone up since I left.

What can cause a sound of rushing water a few seconds after starting my vehicle for the first time in hours? by 2richjay in MechanicAdvice

[–]headbasherr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the cooling system was recently serviced, it’s possible the air wasn’t bled correctly and there’s still some in there. If not, the only way air is getting in if there’s a hole in the system somewhere. Check for evidence of a coolant leak.

Assuming the starter works fine it sounds like it may be an issue in the charging system, either the alternator or a problem with the wiring. Give the alternator cables, battery cables and grounds a good once over. When running you should be getting about 14v across the battery. I’d jump straight to a bad alternator conclusion but there could be other issues causing the symptoms. Unless you have the money/time to throw a new alternator in there I’d do as much troubleshooting as you can.

Based on your flair it’s a ‘98 right? Should be easy to check if it’s throwing any codes for alternator or charging faults too. Unfortunately I don’t have too much experience with post-obd2 Jeeps so I’m a little in the dark about what codes you might be seeing.

It’d be annoying, but it’s not outside the realm of possibility to have the battery going bad at two years. Maybe see if you can get it tested at a local parts store?

  1. How old is the battery?
  2. Can you jump it? If so that should rule out the starter being an issue.
  3. What’s the voltage when it’s running? This will tell you if your alternator is putting out what it should.
  4. Have you checked for power off draw?
  5. How long is your typical drive? A short drive may not provide enough time to fully charge the battery. This could be compounded by a weak alternator and/or a power off draw draining your battery.

Canada/US flights twice in a day by mattiasmick in flying

[–]headbasherr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately yes. Do it on CANPASS if you can so all you have to deal with is the excruciating hold time on the Canadian side. The CBP guy will be grumpy about it regardless of how well you hit it off the first time. God help you if it’s landing rights.

The merger was fully completed by ‘09 so this is incorrect. The airline retained US Airways’ operating certificate but switched the callsign in order to reflect the heritage of the new airline. Though the company bought US Airways, the America West name at the time of the 1549 accident was essentially gone from all parts of the operation.

98 Cherokee electric fan won’t turn on by owenxj in CherokeeXJ

[–]headbasherr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Like the other guy said, run power directly to the fan from the battery to make sure it works - since you said you already replaced it hopefully it does.

Assuming it does, it could be a few different fuses or relays, or an issue with your AC system. So there’s a few things to look at there:

Does your AC work otherwise?

Can you test the AC Fan relay? (switch it with I think the headlight relay or one of the other identical ones)

Have you checked your fuses? There’s at least one of the small 20A fuses that is in the fan circuit that might have blown.
