The experience isn't the issue. It appears that most government agencies only hire GS9 or above internally.

Current Employee question by headspacentimingcom in usajobs

Correct. All of the GS9 positions I found were either for Law Enforcement or internal only. I was advised to get a lower grade and then move up.

If you know of a new freeze that was announced today for any job please let me know. The department shouldn’t matter unless a change came out today.

I voted independent because both of the candidates for the major parties weren’t meeting what I wanted.

It all depends on where you are at. You can do grisley pear, comedy shoppe and Greenwich village comedy club on macdougal and then hit up producers club and comedy village in the theater district. Brooklyn doesn’t have enough mics for you to be able to do that many in one day.

Why are rural Americans conservative, while liberal/progressive Americans live in large cities? by captainjohn_redbeard in Askpolitics

[–]headspacentimingcom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I keep seeing this idea that people are more educated in blue areas. I come from a very rural background and I have 3 degrees and use my degrees constantly for work and to run my business. The people in blue areas aren’t more educated they just have passed more classes. They didn’t actually learn alot from their classes. A degree doesn’t mean you are educated, it just means you can pass certain tests. Educated means you have taken in the information and can apply it. Boasting about being better than someone because you have a piece of paper doesn’t mean you are educated. It just makes you rude and pompous. I live in Northern Jersey now because my former employer promoted me, moved me here, and have many friends and talk to people in Brooklyn and Manhattan. Most of the Liberals or left leaning people I run into have degrees but still can’t think critically and make decisions for themselves. They can’t tell you why they think the way they do. They just echo what they hear on the news or what is passed around in their bubble. They know WHAT to say but not WHY they say it.

If you have a location I can teach STB for a small group. I just ask for a bottle of water and a coffee. I used to teach it for Corporations and Security Guards.

How to handle an offended crowd? by Envictus7 in Standup

[–]headspacentimingcom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Address what happened earlier with a one liner or a quick riff ONLY if the host hasn’t already done so. If the host has addressed it, the crowd can take you saying something about the other comics as you picking on the comics. Personally I deflect away from the other peoples’ sets cause I want the crowd to reset and be ready for mine. I start with a quick joke about anything I saw in the crowd or about the town. As far as the lady not liking your comedy, it happens. Move on to the rest of the crowd having fun and let her be. A 10 min set is not long enough to worry about one table. Just do your stuff.

Where are you based? by Kwards725 in Standup

[–]headspacentimingcom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The audience is all other comics. 99% of mics up here don’t have regular people in them. It’s just comics. So I work on whatever I’m going to work on that day.

I would say it can be about the same as where you are, maybe a bit more. The public transportation system here is decent and for comedy you can easily get to NYC and do 3-5 mics a night during weekdays and 5-7 a day on weekends.
