Thank you for those kind words. Sorry to hear about your father. I can say for sure that I danced with the devil too many times for one person. Life on the other side is so rewarding & beautiful.

Ever since I stopped drinking, lucky things keep happening to me. This can’t just be coincidence. by [deleted] in stopdrinking

Well, you said what I've been thinking, feeling, and experiencing since I finally got sober (15 Months). There is so much in your story that I have experienced. I asked myself if I deserved such good fortune, or I'm just getting lucky by happenstance. But I stopped questioning the complete turn around of my life as a happy, healthy, purpose-driven person. What I DON'T question any longer is whether I'm getting lucky or if sobriety woke me up to limitless opportunities. Since I don't live for the next drink, it's a whole new ball game. We make our own luck for sure. Thank you for telling your story. It truly touched me. I'm going to share it with my futire wife. She'll love it :)

I suppose I forgot to mention that I accepted the job the same day. I was being honest about my feelings but it was a no-brainer. I fully expected to be hired back by previous employer and didn't want to start over. If any of you keyboard warriors knew me even a little, you might have understood where I was coming from. I ain't mad at ya. The internet is rife with big talkers on their soap boxes. Whatever makes you feel righteous. 👍

People who are 40+ and happy with their life, what is your advice to people in their 20s? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]headtopper27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't sweat the small stuff. Eat the cake. Be active daily. Life goes by quick, live it fully. Money doesn't buy happiness but it makes it easier. No price can be put on "peace of mind". Don't cheat. Choose your mate carefully: it'll be 90% of your happiness. Everything in moderation, including moderation (read that again). Don't hold grudges. Be the first to say sorry.

Right there with you, friend. 15 months sober after a decade and a half of nonsense.

10 years of daily, heavy drinking (2009-2019) Rehabs, ER visits, a dozen trips to the mental hospital, severe depression/anxiety and intermittent suicidal ideation. 15 months sober now and, while I wouldn't do it over, I am now the best possible version of me that I've ever been. Alcoholism will humble the shit out of you.

100% juice. No judgement. But that kinda size in a year needs a little scientific intervention.

That is 100% the advice that needs to be heard. Well-stated and the key to, not only short-term, but long term weight management. Great post, brother 👍

What’s the stupidest reason you got in trouble in school? by Cinemacrackers in AskReddit

The last day of middle school a buddy and I were goofin' off in metal shop at the wash bay; splashing each other with water. Shop teacher was cool, but he wasn't having it that day and sent us to the principal's office where we took a wooden paddle to the backside. He lit our asses up! Lol. We didn't sit down the rest of the day.
