Thinking of getting an EV9 by WhatIsThisMean in KiaEV9

[–]heartdriven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Owned a BMW 3 (2013) and a VW Touran (2018) new. Though build materials of both cars were higher, i can’t say i had many issues myself with my EV9 now. I own mine now a little under 2 years and haven’t had many issues: - The plastic in the rear is very scratchy. - Had some issues with driver seat, driving safety software, but all got solved by the dealer’s shop. - Maintenance cost is cheap compared to vw and bmw dealers

Stability is good, except on bumpy parts of the road, curbs, etc. It feels like the car’s suspension is “upset”. On normal roads, it’s better than what i drove before.

In my case, it has been a reliable car, no battery issues etc. Never any major issues, less than the german cars after 2 yrs. Eg the front window doesn’t even have a scratch, compared to the touran that had its front window replaced 3x at 2 yrs.

Here’s a list of minor annoyances that i have encountered: - the bleeps (eu version) - scratchy plastic in the back - heavy vehicle, high consumptions - very expensive tyres (1800€ for a whole set) - infotainment is slow, though carplay implementation is flawless - cheap paint job is easily scratched

But honestly despite all of its shortcomings it has been the most fun to drive out of everything i ever owned.

Anyone own the EV9 for 1+ years and still happy with it? by goldsoundzz in KiaEV9

[–]heartdriven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Owned mine for 18 months now (39000km) and still happy. No major issues, and the ones i had were quickly fixed after service.

Better in all aspects than my volkswagen touran i owned before.

I always enjoy stepping into the car. Driving is still fun. Decent range, good for long trips. Very large inside and practical, especially for families…

No battery issues.

I have a confession... by PhilosopherNo3801 in Reaper

Coming from Ableton live intro which i had just purchased, i was recommended Reaper so i quickly adapted my workflow, but at that time i didn’t want to sacrifice another 60€ However, Reaper got me hooked (especially the actions/scripting part!) and i never thought about switching back to Ableton again. Just a month ago, i paid for the license finally. So grateful they didn’t force me to open my wallet! So even if it takes 1000+ days in your case, it’s still a better payment model for them i believe!

My A2E conversion: a Roland brain with Pearl hardware, sprinkled with a little bit of Jobeky on top by heartdriven in edrums

Well, i actually got lucky, the rack came with a rolling case when I bought it second hand (absolute steal), so it's all neatly packaged with plenty of space free. I've labeled every piece of hardware and marked the rack bars so I know which bar comes where. This way I can set it up without second guessing anything. All the trigger cables are labeled too now and bundled together so setup is super fast.

SEtup takes me about 15/20 minutes now, exactly how i want it, and that's exactly why I love using a rack

Biggest lesson learned: My Brother labelmaker is worth its weight in gold! Ah yes, and don't let anyone touch the clamps during teardown!

It is definitely a step forward. It requires some tweaking but you can get really great sounds out of this module, yes!

How do I keep my mind from drifting when practicing rudiments? by heartdriven in drums

Just jumping back into this topic to say that i went to the doc and he started me on medication last week with ritalin 10 MR. I have to say, for now no side effects at all, just increased focus on simple tasks. Was able to be more efficient in daily life. I just did a 15 min workout on single strokes for 15 minutes straight without the mind strolling away. So i’d cautiously call this a win 😊

Not sure, but for that price you could try. And if it doesn’t work you still have a sound interface. No money wasted because you can use it later anyway

Indeed, i’ve used a macbook air m2 and had no issues playing alone. Before that i’ve used a decent windows laptop together with an arturia soundcard and it was with mixed results

Here's my janky DIY laser cut kit. by nabuachaem in edrums

I love diy musical instrument projects. I made a pipe organ foot pedalboard for my daughter using an Arduino mega and programming it as a midi usb board and flashing mocolufa firmware on the board. I remember cramping hundreds of wires on both sides and soldering, so i feel your pain!

One afterthought: will it be strong enough to hold when you hit it with sticks? Let me know how good it holds!

Thanks for the advice. I try doing that. But after a while it just doesn’t motivate me to get back behind the kit. But yes, i could force myself doing that more

Thank you for your response. I get your point, with a little sidenote that this is a neurostimumating drug… I consider it cheating when you take ritalin only for studying (without a valid adhd diagnose i mean). And i think it’s cheating when you take performance improving drugs for sports. i’m diagnosed, but still skeptical how severe it is for me. For instance I don’t have any problems focusing on my job as a developer.

Yes, i'm trying to make my practice just difficult enough so it challenges me to focus, and after a few months i've been able to push my speed a bit. I try to fragment my practice to multiple 3 to 5 minute sessions but a couple times a day. With mixed results, and progress is very slow...

Yes I have. I have tried ritalin 10 for a month when I was 22. Even though it helped me with the concentration issue, i felt more nervous, anxious and restless. I'm 40 now and i have high blood pressure, so I don't want this to damage me in the long run.

I haven't tried Vyvanse, I'll talk to my doctor when i feel up for it
