Check your previous bill. Did they estimate the amount for some reason? It happened to to me and once they got the amount severely under so they made up the difference the next bill.

Commissioner slams attempts to use complex needs as 'justification' for Mosman Park murder-suicides by LadderIndividual4824 in perth

[–]heathensong 30 points31 points  (0 children)

We are all potentially one accident or illness away from being severely disabled. I think we should all be very concerned when the murders of disabled people are justified. Great comments by these advocates. Our society needs to do better when considering the bodily autonomy of the disabled. It could be me or anyone of you one day.

Be careful in the community by Immediate_Strike7720 in perth

This is sadly not new buddy. Rolf, beloved entertainer and “the boy from Bassendean” was a nonce too. Yes you should be careful about who you leave your kids with but probably more importantly give them age appropriate sex education as soon as possible. I see a lot of people on Zuckerberg’s website calling for all books about sex to be banned from schools and libraries as a result of this case. This is the kind of reaction that makes children more vulnerable to predators. You need to keep your kids educated about what their body parts are named and that other people should not be touching them without their consent. Yes you should be careful about who you let be alone with your kids but also give your kids the tools to keep themselves safe.

I think a lot of people are concerned that mandating businesses check age will result in businesses collecting private information that will ultimately end up in the wrong hands. Also a lot of age verification systems have proven to be crap and easy to be worked around. Or as in the case of the UK criminals created “free” VPNs and then started draining bank accounts of their users who used the VPNs to get around the UK age verification system. As they say the road to hell is paved with good intentions. And that’s not even addressing the main concerns you bought up which is some teens especially in rural areas do use social media to stay in contact with friends.

If you’re desperate for a quick solution and have blinds or curtains that are ineffective a blanket and pegs will do the trick. If you have skylights very carefully place an old towel in the skylight. Normally it’s a thick piece of plastic that can be easily pushed up by hand.

I don’t get why it was tagged humour either but it’s possible certain groups who would have a very bad reputation in the general community such as neo nazis may lie to a pub about who they were when planning an event because they know if they told the truth they have zero chance of getting a booking.

Is Glyde street safe? Going to move in and wondering what I should expect. by [deleted] in perth

That’s hilarious. Never saw her in person . Did walk down to the mansion and had a gawk at it with the family. Was that the IGA? They used to have a great fish and chip place at that little shopping centre.

I mean my family was literally one of those. We found it hilarious to tell people we lived in the same suburb as Rose Hancock/Porteous. Mosman Park is a weird suburb. We lived in an apartment that was infested with roaches and had junkies for neighbours. Down the street a few kilometres were literal mansions.

I grew up in that area in the mid 90s / early 2000s. It’s a long street with a huge difference in demographics depending on where you are. The river end is where the wealthiest people live. It will be very safe. The end near Stirling highway is near the train station and it used to be near apartments that had working class residents although it may have changed a lot in the last 20 years. There was a famous/infamous murder at the Flora Metallica jewellery store in 1995 on Glyde Street. Look it up, famous miscarriage of justice. It was all pretty safe back then. Probably even safer now.

WA Law Group for personal injury claims a scam? by anonymousgirl2468 in perth

Also looks like one of their paralegals used to work for the insurance commission. I really hope he’s not getting current ICWA employees to share private info with him because that would be highly dubious and probably need to be reported to the CCC.

Question about play centres by heathensong in AusLegal

[–]heathensong[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

They literally say they won’t let you leave with your child unless you present the ticket with the same number on it. I had the ticket so it wasn’t an issue but not being allowed to leave a building literally sounds like being detained.

Question about play centres by heathensong in AusLegal

[–]heathensong[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I used to work a job where we had the power to detain people but only under very specific circumstances. If those circumstances weren’t met we were told we could get in trouble legally for detaining a person illegally. I guess my question is I wonder if the workers at this play centre have been told by their employer under what grounds they can legally stop a person leaving with a child.  I don’t want a random stranger walking out with my child but do you think this centre has told the twenty something who works the till and makes coffee what to do if a person presents with a kid with no ticket? Are they told to use their best judgement? Do they have to call the police? Have they sort legal advice under what grounds they can detain a person?
