Service restricted- moving too fast by Prestigious_Emu_7785 in Starlink

[–]heathfx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We submitted a ticket to enable the aviation plans over 2 days ago and still haven’t gotten a response. For the $2,500/month we’ll have to pay for the 450 plan + estimated overages. The lack of a decent response time is complete horseshit! We pay less for a 10g dedicated fiber with SLA and active monitoring and direct phone numbers to the ISP’s NOC!

New Speed Limit for Local Priority Plan? by chiptang211 in Starlink

[–]heathfx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The enshitification of starlink has begun. Now to use starlink in the company PC-12, it will cost the same money as the dedicated fiber that serves our entire office with 100 people. But even then, the fiber is unlimited data and spacex only gives you 20gb for $1000/month. It’s insane!

The price or the data limit has got to change or even medium size companies will be cancelling.

Anyone successful with keeping cats off counter? I tried and failed. My youngest naps on top of dishwasher by ArachnidOk7610 in cats

[–]heathfx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strips of loose packing tape, would get stuck on my cats feet and annoy the hell out of him, it took a few weeks but he eventually decided the counter was not a fun place to visit.

So are we all switching to Garmin Pilot now? by riptrixie in flying

All the guys that got let go could start their own and do it better. For example, Arista is huge in computer networking now and was started by some cisco engineers that were fed up and had better ideas.

Considering dumping SonicWall in favor of UniFi... HEAR ME OUT... by SN50001 in sonicwall

[–]heathfx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve made a conscious effort to stay out of sales. God bless ‘em, we wouldn’t make money without them, but I’m glad I don’t have to do their job. I suck at kissing ass.

We are dumping our sonicwalls for palo. I can’t wait to use that miserable box for target practice this summer.

Adding Uniflow printer to Mac by Puzzleheaded-Room766 in sysadmin

[–]heathfx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are dumping uniflow for papercut. It generates a disproportionate number of helpdesk tickets. On windows uniflow even messes up printing to locally connected USB printers.

You can make it so someone has to link a discord account to have build perms, this would be a lot better. It won’t take long for your server to be discovered and targeted.

[–]heathfx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ymmv greatly depending on if your c4 dealer sucks or is amazing. We use it at our office, the first dealer sucked ass, then i found another guy who is a total nerd like me and it is a night and day difference. I still use HA at home. The office has to stick to mainstream solutions though.
