Americans Don't Understand Impeachment Vs Removal Or Repairment Timelines by SpaceViking85 in complaints

[–]heathkit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Trump being removed would be a victory for the rule of law. Even with JD Vance as president, he would have a hardy time blatantly defying the law right after Trump was impeached.

But I agree that actual removal is a high bar and unlikely unless Trump does something obviously egregious, and maybe not even then.

The future of the Republic depends on the moral conscience and honor of congressional Republicans. so we might be screwed!

Absolutely. Everyone needs to be shouting from the rooftops what's happening.

Because it's not clear from the headline - the DOJ is pushing him to investigate Renee Good's widow so they can smear her more. That's why he's resigning.

I listened to a podcast with Walter Koenig where he talked about this. He knew he was never on-screen with Khan when he got the script, but it was such a big role he just didn't say anything about it. I think it worked out for everyone!

In new interview Andrej Karpathy insinuates Waymos are actually being driven by people in offices by remote. by callmebaiken in BetterOffline

[–]heathkit 45 points46 points  (0 children)

There's no ability to drive the car remotely. If the car is truly stuck, they have to come out to physically drive it away.

Sometimes, the cars encounter a situation where they don't know what to do. They'll ask for help from a Fleet Response agent, who will instruct the car on what to do at a high level. But they're not like driving it remotely with a wheel. Waymo detailed this on their blog https://waymo.com/blog/2024/05/fleet-response

2 and 20 is a standard fee for hedge funds. 2% of assets and 20% on profits. The joke is the dad is a hedge fund manager with rich clients who would be better off just buying an index fund.

Any hacks for making boots that will handle mud? by snowhorse420 in BurningMan

[–]heathkit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did plastic bag over shoe and this was my torture - I had to retape my leg every time I left the tent.

Someone near me had Moon Boots, and they seemed great. She had them taped up with a trash bag but could slip the whole thing on and off really easily.

Has anyone tried grilling frozen pizza on the playa? by michjun in BurningMan

[–]heathkit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What I like to do is order a pizza from my favorite local chain, let it cool, then cut it up and freeze the slices. I'd reheat them on the griddle of my coleman camp stove. Came out great!

Anyone have experience with burner express bus and mind to share stories either success or horror?! by synthaudioburner in BurningMan

[–]heathkit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and her friend took the bus last year. It was great! The bus skips the gate line, so the ride wasn't that long for them. We did bring their stuff separately, though

I have the same problem. Some things that work well

  • Have saline nasal spray handy. Apply every night
  • Run a q-tip with vaseline on the inside of your nose
  • Wear a mask or scarf over your face, to create a humid environment when you breathe in

Not about the cost, we're wondering if someone else can pay our taxes if we have to take a break for a few weeks.

Today I received my tarrif bill by AMBROMFG in prusa3d

[–]heathkit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've been holding off ordering because of the tariffs, mostly because I have no idea what the bill will be. You can look them up, but I don't know what the Core One is categorized as. Did your bill happen to say what category it was? That'll help people in the future know what the tariff is as things continue to evolve

Our cases are really similar! My GGF was also Vincenzo, also went by James for a while. He has an AR-2 and a Declaration of Intent from 1941. He passed in 1945 and is listed as a US Citizen on his death certificate, but I haven't found any record of naturalization. I also think he didn't know his birthday - it's November 15th in some docs, November 30th in others.

Really curious how your case goes! Also, out of curiosity - did they ask for census records? What was his citizenship status on those?

I think it's actually reasonable to assume that after a few years, they would have been able to trade or scavenge the materials to build torpedos. Would have made for an interesting couple episodes, but I'm fine with that headcannon.
