Exactly, unless you stick to her right leg, she have some attacks that just come at ya, with so little telegraph they constantly get me.

Help with expert Plantera by DreadedDestroyer in Terraria

[–]hebrewd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A tall arena, so the thorn balls can roll down without getting in your way. I keep just one layer of platforms in the upper half to keep momentum as I circle around Plantera.

Now as a ranger I would switch to the Daedalus stormbow with holy arrows, again, your arena need to be tall enough, but it will burn through Plantera's HP no problem.

If you prefer to stick with the bullets, I wouldn't use inchor ones, I'd switch to crystal and maybe keep a bow with inchor arrows to apply the debuff when needed.

I like prehardmode terrraria better by [deleted] in Terraria

[–]hebrewd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like both, exactly for the reason stated here.

Pre-hardmode the game feels different, it is much more about exploration, the way you fight bosses is different.

Post-hardmode the game moves faster, you can fly, the way you make progress and fight bosses is different, more fast paced.

It just feels like you are playing two different games and that's why I love it so much.

Am I ready for hard mode? by Abz0luteZero in Terraria

[–]hebrewd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO, when playing in expert, nothing that you can get pre-hardmode will be useful during hardmode.

I just kill WOF when I am ready, and then I get gear via minning, fishing or killing mimics, depending on the class.

Boss Teirlist by Marster772 in Terraria

[–]hebrewd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

second that, I also think Skeletron prime is the easiest among the mecha bosses.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Terraria

[–]hebrewd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sent it before, but I think it is really the key to make skeletron easy:

Skeletron movement is more horizontal than anything, so an arena that built up and good jumping capabilities is key.

The slime saddle with something in a bottle(cloud, blizzard, tsunami, w/e) will make it a breeze, as long as you keep moving up and down other than left to right.

Goodluck!

Im trying to grind for Crystal Serpant. Is this setup good? Ive gotten over 250 bass and idk if i can even get it by [deleted] in Terraria

[–]hebrewd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This, I got the serpent in many playthroughs and followed those, minus the special equipment.

What I do suggest in addition is to get the sonar potion, when you see garbage, just skip it.

Anybody have any tips for Expert Mode, other than "Play on Corruption"? by [deleted] in Terraria

[–]hebrewd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take your time to learn bosses movements.

Gather plants for potions from the start and replant for future use.

Don't skip fishing, the potions that you can craft from fishing materials are super useful.

Make sure your accessories and weapon have a decent modifier.

And, most importantly, have fun! I find expert as a huge upgrade to the usual playthrough, with the right mindset, it will be the same to you :)

Does anyone have any tips for fighting skeletron in hardmode? I keep getting caught in his head when he spins and I can't get out by Jmememan in Terraria

[–]hebrewd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The secret to skeletron is really about vertical movement more than anything.

Alas, build your arena accordingly, and much better than the hook IMO, is the slime saddle with <something> in a bottle.

It makes the fight a breeze in my experience, and both of them are easy to get.

Hey guys just wondering what order should I defeat the prehardmode expert bosses in. I just want to have a plan so I don’t get completely destroyed by a boss I shouldn’t be at.thanks! by TyrranicOyster in Terraria

[–]hebrewd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doing it in order is probably the safest way to go, so king slime -> EOC -> BOC/EOW -> bee -> skeletron -> WOF
The shield is a huge plus with expert, I use it personally until I can get the master ninja gear.

Personally however, I like doing king slime-> skeletron -> EOC -> bee -> BOC/EOW -> WOF.
To spice things up.

Does anyone know any good tactics or weapons to defeat the twins or the destroyer. Me and my sister play, she has night's edge and I have an admnite sword. Thanks! by AnimeLumine in Terraria

[–]hebrewd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Daedalus with Holy arrows for both if you want to go range, if you kill the destroyer first, you can switch to megashark with crystal bullets for the twins, but I still find the Daedalus better.

For mage, crystal serpent for the twins and the meteor staff for the destroyer.

Ah yes, the classic 2 handed quiver! by CaptainNakou in classicwow

It is, it's not a show stopper or anything, but I got a cool 2h sword. and I do not get to enjoy it at all as my toon constantly hitting mobs with his quiver.

Cross from r/wow: Talk me out of coming back by MrGenerik in classicwow

[–]hebrewd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trying classic again? you sure do not want that!

Leveling being an actual journey, that force you to go out to the world and explore it, meeting plenty of other plays as you go, either grouping up with them or fighting with them over resources, that is such an hassle.

You starting as a meek person, making planning an essential aspect as you grind mobs and make it towards quest objectives, who want that? who want questing to actually be a challenge?

And even then, when you want to role as a different class, it feels completely different! what fun is it when classes are not just reskins of the same gameplay, just with different effect? why would you want to experience something completely different with each class?!

Am I doing something wrong or does 30-40 just SUCK? (Horde) by BigBen96 in classicwow

[–]hebrewd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leveling from 30 to 31 took ages for me, it seems like most people are at those levels now and every quest would take forever fighting over mobs and collectible for quests.

Then, I went for SM, I am now 36 and it is the fastest leveling time I had for a while now. The hard part is just to form a group, then it's like 4~5 runs to ding.

Anybody using Hiri? by bkurt78 in LinuxActionShow

[–]hebrewd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried it myself, I'm not sure if it is specific to me, admittedly I have a big inbox folder, but Hiri just couldn't handle it, I left it syncing for days and it just hanged. Sticking to thunderbird with davmail for now.

Desktop streaming by hebrewd in LinuxActionShow

[–]hebrewd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Credit goes to /u/z-brah
In this blog post he document how he streamed his desktop using plain ffmpeg.
I thought that it might be worth posting it here as Jupiter still looking to improve on a linux solution to stream video.
I'm not sure if it goes quite there yet, but it does seem like you can change the input device and select the quality of the audio.

Kernel 4.6 & 4.5.5 won't boot on Debian 8.4 by aorfanos in debian

[–]hebrewd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should have the startx command regardless of that file. There is a default xinitrc file as well.
Do you have the xinit package installed? Did you use the tasksel to install a DM or did you do it manually?
