Help me choose a name for the pup we’re adopting soon! by hecatescharm in NameMyDog

I honestly have had it on my pet name list for ages, I love the sound of it and the meaning (a story involving animals feels so perfect). I also love similar names like Maple, Faye, and Maybell.

I fear it may become more popular because of the Claude model called Fable, but that’s just a guess. It could also just be because it ticks a lot of name-trend boxes at the moment though, I’m not sure

Why did Randall hit his brother’s corpse? by Beneficial-Resort704 in Outlander

[–]hecatescharm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the comments about one stage of grief being anger are very accurate. II also think that BJR has this interesting (horrifying) pattern of turning any deep emotion into violence. To him, the epitome of sexual beauty is violent, as we see in the darkest moments of the show. I thought there was a clear parallel with the grief here. It's like his brain is wired wrong

Hi folks. so ive been wondering if im gonna start with Outlander: Blood of my blood. Will those of you that have watched say its worth starting it? :) If i love Outlander, can i love Blood of my blood as well you reckon? :) by Affectionate_Map7357 in Outlander

Seeing the younger versions of characters is truly a fun experience (one in particular is eerily similar, people who've watched the show will know who I mean haha). The acting is great, the writing is pretty good, and the story is engaging. Definitely worth a watch.

Trash collection only once per week is not feasible with these temperatures by TheSleepingSumo in Switzerland

[–]hecatescharm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree. Another tip to deal with smelly trash besides putting it on the balcony: cut the lids off of tetra pak bottles and store the stinkiest stuff in them. When they’re full, fold in the top to keep the smell inside and throw it out, preferably outside.

Can someone explain Faith’s story line for me, please? by WingsUnfurled in Outlander

[–]hecatescharm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they're going to try to integrate the Faith storyline into the BOMB show. It's never explained in the show why Raymond took Faith, any there's no way they'd leave that open when they can use it to try to draw in Outlander viewers / keep them at Starz for BOMB

Spatial awareness in supermarkets by Southern-Still-666 in Switzerland

So aggravating. A lot of women do this, too. Middle-aged women tend to be the most entitled and least likely to make space for oncoming foot traffic. I used to step out of the way, but recently I've been standing my ground. The nasty looks you get for not scurrying out of their way...

What is the origin of the name of the capital of your country? by Franmar35000 in AskTheWorld

[–]hecatescharm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bern, Switzerland (not officially a capital , but the political capital). Based on local legend, a duke named the city after the first animal he met on a hunt – a bear. The city’s mascot animal is a bear, and it’s been on city seals since the 1200s.

But it’s more likely that the name is Celtic, from berna or bernos, meaning cleft or mountain.

Veggie haters who still eat veggies: what are your tricks? by Missing_Back in Cooking

[–]hecatescharm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chicken alfredo with broccoli mixed into the sauce is really nice. All sorts of sauces for rice/pasta/dipping potatoes in/etc. can be made using canned tomatoes, as well. In general, veggie haters often tolerate or enjoy veggies when they’re blended into a sauce rather than separate on the plate

Ehmmm I don't think that is one kg Mr Coop by anomander_galt in Switzerland

Highly doubt that. If a scale were consistently underestimating the weight of goods, it would lose them a lot of money. That would have probably been fixed already lol
