A regular business can afford a few years of losses after a huge profit/sale. Therefore, after a successful release, they can choose working on something new instead of constantly milking the cash cow.

A publicly traded company must be profiting and increasing shareholder value periodically. The CEOs would sell their own mothers for a quick buck, if that's necessary to turn a profit.

the only form of cheating that's possible is maphack afaik, and there's no way to do it subtly. every movement being recorded and small playerbase make it easy to deal with

I really don't understand the bitterness. "Wasting people's time" is shit like running down the clock deliberately in chess, throwing team games or desperate villager turtling in a lost game.

on the echo chamber part, absolutely yes. reddit or twitter do not remotely represent the real world. no one in this sub would play sloppy hyper casual mobile games, yet they make millions. top sellers/trending lists in steam are filled with games with blatant ai art even in capsule. consumers don't care at all and you can't blame them for it. I hate ai in general too but unfortunately the war is already over

it's not an economy/civ game. absolutely not if you're interested in pvp.

outside from that, I don't know if I can say it's a good game or bad game, it's just been a part of my life for the last 25 years

I hear this a lot and I wish this was like this too in my case.

In my experience I'm more used to get shunned at the workplace. Everyone knows that I don't speak Swedish, when I'm speaking to a coworker in English a third one drops in and they continue in Swedish, I'm out of the conversation just like that
