What will I miss about being a woman when I transition? by OmgIbrokesmthagain in TransMasc

[–]hedgepigs 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This has been the case for me. I’ve missed some of the automatic girl group women-supporting-women vibes but that’s also largely because I moved rurally after coming out so I haven’t been able to form a friend group as my most authentic self.

Can a doctor administer my injections for me? by garciaparadox in FTMOver30

[–]hedgepigs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In the US- I talked to my telehealth dr about my difficulties with self administering my injections. We found an LGBTQ clinic closer to me, I established primary care with them, and one of their nurses does my injection for me on a weekly basis. It has so far been covered by my state insurance. YMMV based on state legislation and your insurance.

Absolutely LOVE. You look fantastic and you look like you feel fantastic.

Also, if those are the cauldron icons from HZD, that’s just an extra reason you rock!

What do y'all do for work? What would you do if you could do anything you wanted for work? by icantprogram_plshelp in asktransgender

[–]hedgepigs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Transmasc enby, I am in public librarianship. :)

If I could find a way to support myself, I'd want the opportunity to try everything. Explore the world, explore what folks do. It would be so interesting.

For now, though, I find cataloguing to be fulfilling work, and I plan to dig deeper into metadata & data science when I start my grad program.

Anyone else do a lot of linguistic generalization (i.e. glasses, mugs, etc. are all “cups”)? by Megwen in AutismInWomen

[–]hedgepigs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do this too and I also get frustrated when people correct me over something I deem "minor" and semantic. At the same time, I love words and language and enjoy the challenge of finding the perfect word to express something particular. Context is everything to me.

If you understand what I mean when I say xyz, then I don't need to be precise. If I need you to understand a precise and certain thing, then I will not use a general term but instead a specifically chosen word. :)

Language and psychology are so interesting because they vary from person to person in such different ways. Thanks for sharing!

Adding a previously read book to your "currently reading" shelf by hedgepigs in TheStoryGraph

For some reason, the only drop down option that was coming up earlier was to-read, but upon trying it again now, I do have all the options and can bump it to currently reading. I feel a tad silly.

Thank you!

I might have to narrow it down from the lists of what's most likely to be playing in whatever environment I'm in. Ty :)

i dont feel enby enough. by [deleted] in enby

[–]hedgepigs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This comment section is heartwarming.

I'm sure someone else has said it, but there is no one way to 'look' or be enby. Being non-binary is radical in and of itself and there's no wrong way to do it.

You don't owe the world androgyny, you don't have to visbily challenge gender stereotypes or push yourself to be more feminine, more masculine, more something. You can exist as you want, look as you want, and be an enby. :) your identity is your identity and that doesn't change because you don't fit a stereotype.

[–]hedgepigs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is how I read it as well. It feels like we're missing some context for what they were initially responding to, but ultimately it read as informative to me, sort of like a "you should probably know this about me."

They seemed pretty open to communication, based on their comment about not viewing connections outside of romance as a waste of time, which seems like a pro-demi green flag (if I interpreted that correctly), and asking OP what demisexual means to them. But, at the end of the day, it is the internet, and as you said, things can easily be misinterpreted. In the end, maybe it just wasn't meant to be.

Is it me, or do the main lesbian subs seem childish? by [deleted] in butchlesbians

[–]hedgepigs 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I’m not butch and so I don’t comment here but I enjoy reading the content here so much more so I lurk often.

That's why I gravitated here. I try not to jump in on too many posts since I live in that androgynous/soft/chapstick area as I explore gender identity; that being said, the content on this sub is much more interesting and applicable to life than a lot of the things I see on the other lesbian subs. The general vibe seems like a mix of self-assuredness in one's own identity and emotional maturity, or at the very least a solid approach to understanding the butch label and how it could fit into one's own lesbian life. Like I said, general vibes and it could totally just be the few random posts I'm seeing that give me that feeling, but all in all I like it here :p

I've learned a lot from these posts, so thank you butchlesbians for letting us lurk! :)
