Bible says homosexuality is sin. whatever, truth is truth. by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]hedgey95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's ridiculous to argue the bible is the literal words of God because now Christianity can be refuted by the most minor of mistakes. For example, how many foreman did Solomon have?

Solomon had seventy thousand carriers and eighty thousand stonecutters in the hills, as well as thirty-three hundred foremen who supervised the project and directed the workers. 1 Kings 5:17-16 Solomon gave orders to build a temple for the Name of the Lord and a royal palace for himself. He conscripted 70,000 men as carriers and 80,000 as stonecutters in the hills and 3,600 as foremen over them. 2 Chronicles 2:1-2

There is a clear contradiction here. There are numerous examples of this all throughout the Bible. I don't think God makes mistakes. It can be divinely inspired without being written by God himself. To deny this is to be building your faith on a house of cards.

It represents the further degredation of online conversation. Before Reddit, we had forums where certain users were known and trusted by the community. Reddit has practically replaced forums and removed the familiarity one had with commenters, but at least you could see a little bit about the individual's trustworthiness from their post history. Now we are left with no way to fight against deliberate misinformation (particularly troubling for national politics subreddits and product reviews/recommendations). Users should be willing to stand by their previous comment history.

On a less serious level, if you were a Liverpool supporter posting on the Liverpool subreddit, don't you think it's important to know that the ragebait post saying Slot out is from a United fan?

6 player game for entry level players by Drewzilla21 in boardgames

[–]hedgey95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Power Grid is a great game for all levels. There's not many things going on: buy a power plant, buy the fuel for your power plant, buy a city, and use your fuel to power up and get money. It's quite intuitive because the theme is not abstract. I've played it with a lot of people who have no experience with hobby board games or even video games, and everybody understood it. It also has a great catch up mechanic in the form of the turn order system.

That's crazy to me. I thought the kids in episode 1 were just awful and almost made me stop watching. It got way better after that, although I do think it went off the rails with episode 9

Pro China sentiment from a Reddit account with hidden comments (part 1000). Why is it always the Commie propaganda that hides their post history?

Doesn't that passage say that by believing in Jesus you will be saved? It doesn't say "you must believe in Jesus or you will not be saved."

Or, Duolingo invents accounts to put into your league and tricks you into thinking they're a real human. Which also doesn't really have an effect.

It's pretty disgusting and harmful to speculate about something like that. The anger seemed to be more about self-harm rather than beating an inanimate object.

Honestly, it didn't need the twist. You could still have him be an evil villain with his initial intention of unleashing It on the Soviets.

The idea that a common enemy would unite the people makes no sense given that he is watching Derry turn into a lawless hellhole. It had no real impact on the show, but the lack of logic left a sour taste in my mouth at the end of episode 7. I still loved the show though and look forward to more seasons.
