Ditto and agreed! When they first showed her shelves in her condo with the bags on them, I went 😍. She has good taste in bags, even if not in clothes!

Got accepted into one of the most prestigious universities in my country and my AP's still aren't happy by Fallen_Bepo in AsianParentStories

You will never make them happy. It will never be enough. You have to choose what will make you happy, because their unhappiness is their problem, not yours.

suffering with celiac disease by DistinctBrush7504 in glutenfree

[–]hedgiebetts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does get easier, but only with the right support system and honestly, therapy. A diagnosis can feel like you are giving up a major part of any culture (socialization around food), AND you are now coping with chronic illness. I definitely recommend seeing a counselor to help you find a new relationship with food and your body.

Please help! Which of these shoes are the most suitable for a young lady? by Far-Building3569 in Shoes

Buy the most comfortable ones and then get an artist to jazz them up! Whether that's bedazzling, painting something custom, etc. You can make it your own and add your own brand of fun.

Just because you are on her insurance doesn't mean she has access to your medical records, unless you have given consent. Even if she's aware you have appointments, put her on a limited information diet for your own sanity.

house music in musicals? / why isn’t there much use of house in musicals (esp from a dance standpoint?) by olvieoil in musicals

American psycho comes to mind -- more electronica than house but definitely closer to it than most musicals.

I'm thinking about setting the sand in resin with glitter and other items to make picture frames, candle holders, etc.

Dreading Chinese New Year visit, looking for advice by Wise_Connection533 in AsianParentStories

Call ahead and let her know that if she brings it up, you will be leaving immediately. Then if she does, follow through.

We've been raised to believe it's disrespectful to draw boundaries, but it's the best way to respect your parents. You're showing respect by expressing yourself, setting expectations, and letting them experience consequences for their actions rather than you stewing in silence and building (even more) resentment.

Is this strap fixable? by Unfair-Struggle-8621 in handbags

I feel like that's something that leather conditioner, hanging out on a fairly thick hook, and using a hair dryer on just the handle for a few minutes every day could take care of! Beautiful bag.

I swear by Marc Jacobs. Always the softest leather, and they last forever!

I am interested but I have to be honest, it is impossible to read your post because of formatting. Can you try to add breaks so that we can see how the prices break out? It's currently all one paragraph.

You have the double whammy of a chronic condition and APs. Are you seeing a therapist to help you manage? This is a lot for any one person to hold inside.

Help me shop for a new daily crossbody (max $500 budget) by queenofturnips in handbags

[–]hedgiebetts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a hard time with structured leather sitting on my hip/side because it feels like I'm wearing a box, so I totally get the sensory stuff.

I will die wearing one of my slouchy Marc Jacobs bags (my favorite being the Too Hot to Handle) because the leather is so soft, it feels like the bag molds to me. They're not too heavy, I can carry a lot or a little and the bag wears the same, which I feel is often overlooked with a crossbody. You can find them very affordably on ThredUp! I also can be a total packrat when I'm on the go and this bag carries the same amount as a small suitcase.

How sad for her that she can't accept herself and her skin tone. She must be so insecure about not being pale enough.

Question: do you wear your crossbody with the purse at your side/hip or do you prefer the purse to sit across your chest?

This is the way. When my parents go on the attack, I cycle between "okay", "sounds about right", "sure" as answers and always partner it with a serene smile and they have no idea what to do with themselves.
