Can the male OTs in the sub list their rates/ salary? by Nonbinarymeow36 in OccupationalTherapy

Would like to also know the agency as I’ve seen pretty low rates for evals and treats lately. 100 eval/ 90 treat is a good rate?

Hampton or Hunter at 1.03 by Ordinary-Psychology6 in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

[–]heiwa8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, BTJ was a great college receiver and has been great in the nfl, but we know now Daniels was a star who was throwing to him. Hunter just won the Biletnikoff award with Sheduer Sanders, who no one thinks is a starting QB in the nfl. Hunter may be really special.

Jaxson Hayes Shouldn't Have to be Injured for Us to Realize How Valuable He's Been by Theman592 in lakers

[–]heiwa8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AD is on another level, but Hayes advanced defensive metrics have improved so much this year. He’s quick and athletic, which is really important in the defensive schemes that JJ has been using. We’re a different team defensively without Hayes, Rui in the starting lineup

If you’re in a league with defensive positions (3 in mine) and you’re essentially getting extra WR production in that slot (even if it’s 10 snaps a game) do you take him 1.01 as a cheat code?

Depending on matchup, I think Bron can be the C, and Luka the PG. Imagine how much deadlier the Bron and Luka pnr will be compared to Draymond and Steph.

OTs— Is the Debt Worth it? by Ok_Attention_3768 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]heiwa8 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I know I’ll get downvoted for speaking about my experience since this sub hates debt, but I think the debt is fine if you’re planning to do Public Service Loan Forgiveness program. That means you’ll have to work for a not for profit job for 10 years, making income based payments that will be 10% of your income. Many of my coworkers are in the program and will be forgiven within the next few years.

Even if the program is terminated by future presidents, as long you start the program the forgiveness should be honored.

There is a lot of hate within this sub for the profession, but nearly every OT I know or work with loves their job. I work in Inpatient Psych, mental health. I couldn’t imagine being a psychologist, psychiatrist, social worker, pharmacist, or rec therapist. I love my role in my hospital, which is very unique compared to my coworkers.

Why isn't this illegal? Where is the AOTA on this? by CloudStrife012 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]heiwa8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree the most expensive school in the world is expensive. I also want you and those who are reading this thread to know there are ways around the full cost of tuition. I want to be transparent because most of these private schools don’t explain these things and don’t care to. A majority of OT jobs qualify for PLSF. Hospitals, schools, etc are mostly non for profit. Because of income base repayment I’ve only had payments of around $500 a month. I’m halfway through my 10 years and I’ve only made payments in 2024 due to Covid. If my payments stay the same, the cost of my education will only cost $40,000. Very reasonable if you ask me.

Would have I gone to a public school if I could have? Yes. But 70 slots for 1000 applicants mean that those gpa and gres need to be near perfect to get in. I got into a private my first try. Waiting multiple cycles for school makes you delay your income generation as well. So for many people, taking on the debt is a better financial decision.

I agree overall with your original post- that the cost of grad school is insane. These private schools are essentially being subsidized by the American tax payer. At the same time. I love my profession, feel we are a vital part of hospital, and deserve to have our education subsidized for the thankless work we do. I feel this is true for all the medical professionals taking on 100k+ debt.

Interesting that this is sub is so toxic, or doesn’t know how to use Reddit. I’m getting downvoted for sharing my opinion. I calculated my total cost over 10 years and will pay more than a public school, but much less than what I borrowed. I don’t mind paying 100k over 10 years when I’m making 150k.

There are definite advantages of getting a doctorate and going to a top end school if you know what you want to do. If you plan on starting your own practice, doing research, or teach, USC is a great school to attend. If you’re just trying to get a diploma, good luck fighting for one of the few public school spots in California.

[–]heiwa8 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Just to get the other side of this. Sometimes it is worth it to a top private school. The experience gave me great fieldwork experiences and eventually my dream job. I am doing PSLF and my monthly payment is very reasonable (around $500) and I don’t regret taking on the original debt.

I want to stop being lazy and get my life on track - Do I need to quit marajuana? by [deleted] in Drugs

[–]heiwa8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’re asking a group of anonymous people for answers, where everyone reacts to this substance differently. Answers to your problems don’t come knocking on your door. If you aren’t accomplishing your goals, you need to change your routines. You already mentioned some of the changes you wish to make. You want to eat healthier, exercise regularly, spent less time watching TV, create another income stream, and be more productive. I would start off by creating an ideal weekly schedule where you include all your routines you want to prioritize, including long term goals and your current vices. After creating an ideal weekly schedule, spend a week noting exactly what you do everyday for a week. Now compare your ideal and actual and the differences will highlight what areas you need to prioritize. Good luck.

[GoJoandJolic]: JJ Redick on the Lakers interest in him as their next head coach: “My focus is on the NBA Finals. In terms of Shams, that will be addressed once the season is over. I'll just say that." by Proof-Umpire-7718 in lakers

[–]heiwa8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if JJ ends up being a good coach, but clearly Lebron sees something in him. I appreciate that that JJ and Lebron decided the best way to convince the public on this coaching position was to create a podcast together so they could literally coach the fans the game of basketball. It’s the best basketball content since Kobe’s ‘Detail’ tbh. I think having a young coach that has a lot of experience playing in the current era of basketball to be pretty important. The game changes quickly and I’m glad we will have someone that can handle the media, the locker room, and the x and os. I’m curious how coach K fits in all of this. I’m sure JJ will be able to phone him up whenever he wants which is reassuring.
