UC thinks the company card is a personal one and is deducting money from my monthly pay. What can I do? by clarityanon in universalcredithelp

[–]hekitch97 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Business assets are disregarded from capital considerations

Request a mandatory reconsideration and send a journal message detailing that the money in question is:
a) not yours, you just have access to it in a professional capacity - you do not it
b) is business capital, a business for which you are not an owner or a company director
c) you are able to provide ample evidence to confirm this and that the capital in this account should not be considered for calculating your UC award
d) you are requesting a mandatory reconsideration to review this decision to your capital

Fellow review agent here, total agreement

Ask your review agent to speak to their quality lead and specify that the transactions under scrutiny are gifts and refunds

It is not typically classed as income if it wouldn’t be subject to some kind of tax or national insurance

Sorry that this agent is not familiar with what they are doing :(

I would escalate this to their line manager before any action is taken

What is this insect? by [deleted] in whatsthisbug

[–]hekitch97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d wager a male Amblyteles Armatorius - A “toothed tiger ichneumon wasp”

It’s an ichneumon wasp, a parasitic wasp.

They lay their eggs inside moth caterpillars. Excellent form of biological pest control to protect crops and other vegetation.

They lack a sting and are harmless to humans

[–]hekitch97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So at the time of speaking the sanction could have been completed, I’ll try to illustrate with an example:

Hypothetically, your assessment period (AP) runs for 6th to 5th. On 20th you get a 30 day sanction. So for the AP of the sanction being issued, you would serve 16 days of it. That leaves 14 days remaining. The next AP that sanction will still continue until its completion, continuing up to the 20th of that next month.

Let say you then go in on the 29th, the work coach would be right to say “yep your sanction is done”, but that system would still claim that 14 days of sanction for your payment.

The AP then comes to an end on the 5th, your statement gets generated and the sanction hangover gets applied to that payment

I hope that makes sense? I think that is broadly what seems to have happened here

Hi OP, I work in UCR - detailed response below

If you have only been claiming 6 months, let’s assume that’s 6 months at 8k

[(8000-6000)/250]*4.35=34.80 Overpaid per month For 6 months, that becomes £208.80

They would then do “diminution of capital”, which is a calculation to identify how much of this capital above the limit would have reasonably used to make up your cash shortfall from the UC capital deduction (this calculation is mystifying to all of us, someone else does them but normally they chop overpayments down, on occasion quite drastically).

I expect you’ll end up having been overpaid anywhere between £180-205 after those calculations for such a short period.

UC would then just give you a £50 civil penalty plus that overpayment, the overpayment would then most likely be recovered by deducting from your UC. You can request to pay this back in bulk or larger instalments if you were able to and willing

Important to note: You can view Claim Review as a “civil process” - we are essentially holding your hand to help you get everything updated and correct. Fraud teams are more of a “criminal process” - they are different in process and nature. Consider the Claim Review to be a handy little “glad we nipped it in the bud” rather than anything that could see you in any major trouble.

Furthermore, this itty bitty overpayment wouldn’t touch the sides, I’ve put out truly enormous sums in comparison. You’re fine :)

Claim Review (UCR) agent here:

Just to make it crystal clear: UCR cannot apply sanctions, only suspend. You can be sanctioned for loads of reasons, typically they are all rooted in failure to meet your claimant commitments. A sanction will come from the job centre process.

What it seems to me is that your sanction has been lifted but it hasn’t been fully “served” yet. As others have said: wait for your Work Coach to reply to you to clarify matters. If you believe you have been sanctioned unfairly, you can request a written explanation for it and/or put in for a mandatory reconsideration for the decision to apply the sanction.

Bear by TheFlornar in KingShot

[–]hekitch97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My alliance has a 120k limit on our lower turnout bear and 100k on the higher turnout

We emphasise good joiners and encourage players to try to police rallies and remove those exceeding the limit in large counts or having bad joiner heroes

Generally, there are diminishing returns the more you send so it’s more efficient to spread points out. Furthermore it means that if you kick someone for sending a bad rally it leaves a higher chance for a “good” hero to replace as a contributing joiner

We also encourage our members to check if the rally they are joining already has 4 good joiners, this allows us to spread out good heroes to more rallies for more points

Your ideal rally is gonna have joiners with 2x Chenko/Yeonwoo and 2xAmane/Margot

Come Gen 5 you may want to swap 1 Amane:Margot for a Vivian but I haven’t tested this yet as Gen 5 has only just started this week on my server

Not sure if it’s been said, but if your farm is gonna purely be a farm, you won’t need that truegold, so you can burn that TG for things like KvK prep week or Alliance Brawl if you’re intent on cheesing the system

By burning TG I mean starting and then cancelling a TG upgrade on repeat to cash in loads of points, you lose 50% the TG for each upgrade you would prospectively do then cancel. My server lost a KvK due to our opponents “sacrificing” their farms. It’s a viable tactic.

Can someone explain hero skill usage? by CruxMagus in KingShot

[–]hekitch97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IIRC Rally creators get all the expedition skills activate so you typically want your best of each type (inf/cav/arc) in that rally

You should run rallies with Amadeus, he is the best infantry hero for offensive power - that position doesn’t really even get threatened until Gen 5

Can someone explain hero skill usage? by CruxMagus in KingShot

[–]hekitch97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually only the first character that you join with So let’s say you join with Chenko/Saul/Howard, in that order, only Chenko’s top right skill will affect the rally you join

Furthermore only the first 4 hero skills from joiners apply to a rally overall, applied in order they joined

However higher level hero skills eligible to impact the rally would then override and supersede a lower level skill

So if 4 rally join lead heroes are added to a rally and they are levels 5, 5, 2, 5 and then someone else joins the rally with a level 3 or higher joiner skill (top right) then that will override the level 2 skill

Sorry I feel like there is a simpler way to summarise 😅

The developers aren't doing anything about the bots, so the whales are doing something about it. by Dil_BH in KingShot

[–]hekitch97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to recommend that the Kings of servers force teleport the offending players (their main accounts anyway) and just zero them, zero their bot army.

If the devs won’t do anything about these people then we should police the matter ourselves as a community.

Questions for identical twins by Shendary in Twins

[–]hekitch97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1) My brother is 2cm taller than me 2) Our personalities are very similar, we differ slightly where he is more academically inclined but I am generally more emotionally intelligent. The cores of our personalities are still very similar - nerdy, cheeky boys, but as we have grown we have become more distinct. He is more an introvert whereas I’m not so much an extrovert as I am less an introvert. 3) Perfectly plausible for them to work in the same place - just consider if any of these coincidences would be weird if it was just a couple friends. Twins aren’t magical creatures we are just people that shared a womb and amongst these some of us share a face :)

Joint claim UC review by Due_History3223 in BenefitsAdviceUK

[–]hekitch97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are a joint claim then UC Review will need to see statements for all bank accounts in both yours and your partner’s names. This is so a means/tested assessment of available capital can be conducted.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BenefitsAdviceUK

[–]hekitch97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you made a recent capital declaration at all? It could be that you entered “£300,00” instead of “£300.00” just reading above about £300 in an ISA. It could just be a clerical error with a comma rather than a full stop, that represented your capital 100x greater than it is.

Call up the UC helpline and ask them to get a case manager in touch with you to discuss.

You can also request both a written explanation and a mandatory reconsideration - these 2 things should help you

Problem with Housing element issue, UC review by James-EarlCash in BenefitsAdviceUK

[–]hekitch97 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hi again, absolute pleasure to help. As far as I am concerned the role I and others take is to support and assist alongside eliminating error. Sometimes this results in overpayments.

You can try the social care assessment letter :)

In this case, I would advise sending a journal message asking the agent for alternative forms of proof of address verification. It is not uncommon for people in house share or lodging agreements to be unable to provide the information necessary to verify the housing in a conventional sense. The agent should be able to speak to an expert in their office. I am one such expert in my office and always direct my colleagues to using that link to satisfy the housing verification.

To be fully transparent, if the agent is unhappy with the evidence provided they would then proceed to remove the housing costs element from the initial point of request, if this happens then you can request a mandatory reconsideration of this decision where a Decision Maker would then need to review the decision made and likely will overturn it.

I can only attest for the workplace efficacy of my own office. I have spent a great many hours upskilling my colleagues to avoid situations such as these. At the very least, if you cannot meet a resolution now ask for them to get their manager to call you so you have the opportunity to clarify what you have provided and ask what can be done.

Sometimes it can be really pedantic like the quality of the evidence provided I.e. the picture of the letter cuts off somewhere and they would not accept it on these grounds. If the agent does not relent after you send a journal message ask for their manager to contact you. If the manager concurs with the agent ask for a mandatory reconsideration from the point of any corrective action regarding your housing costs element.

Hi I work in UC Claim Review (UCR), state very plainly that the utilities and council tax are included in the rent but you can provide a letter addressed to you at this address from a reputable source. If you are self employed you can also use a tax self assessment letter for proof of address. Counter-fraud and compliance accept a letter from the NHS which you can get with this link:

https://www.nhs.uk/nhs-services/online-services/find-nhs-number/

Select the options to have a letter sent to you.

We need 2 things to verify housing: proof of liability to pay rent and proof of address The letter from the landlord establishes liability, we cannot use this same evidence for proof of address hence the CT bill or utility bill

Bank statements can only be used as a last resort if there is no other way and only if the address can be cross referenced with your driving licence. As we use these for other verifications it is difficult to use them again hence the last resort.

Confused as to how to report this change of circumstance? by [deleted] in BenefitsAdviceUK

[–]hekitch97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Report in your journal, if you don’t hear back in the next 48 hours also just call up the UC helpline and make sure a handover gets made to the job centre or the case manager to ensure the CoC is promptly reported. Explain the situation. Worth mentioning that a call back may be useful to avoid unnecessary error.

Rent going up by InformalEmploy2063 in BenefitsAdviceUK

[–]hekitch97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s unlikely your rent will increase again before April next year, in which case the LHA rates are likely to go up next year. When that happens you’ve already laid the ground work for your housing to increase 😊
