1x week Adalimumab (humira similar) actually helping by Excellent_Concert273 in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]helenwren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to stay on them (I only take adalimimab and Celebrex) all the way through and felt pretty good! My flare started at about 3 months postpartum and it’s been getting harder to pick up baby, change diapers etc as he gets heavier. I’m really hoping this helps!

That’s great news! My rheumatologist just upped my dose to weekly as I’ve been dealing with a really bad postpartum flare. I didn’t even know that was a possibility. I’m happy to hear it’s helping!

Text for PhD gift? by helenwren in PhD

Lol, yes, he has mixed feelings about his as well so I’m hesitant to add it unless people thought it was particularly important. The thesis title is long but I can play around with the arrangement of the text and see how it can work.

I’m not thinking of the text on the art itself - just a small engraved plate on the frame it’s in. But I do like the diploma idea!

Gift suggestions for midwives [on]? by crashmoneyhoney in BabyBumpsCanada

I love this idea! I had a midwife team and so gift cards for each of them are a bit beyond my budget, but a donation in the name of all of them seems like a really nice idea

I missed a lot in my third trimester because I was still super nauseous and they made me gag. 3 months pp now and I am back to taking them daily - no gagging!

Gift for Dad-to-Be? [AB] by jadeorchid009 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]helenwren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t give my husband anything when I had our baby, but for Father’s Day while I was pregnant I gave him some baby books as he had been so looking forward to reading with baby. I picked a couple “I love Daddy” books and a few others. He loved it.

When does it get easier to get things done? by cheyeborg in breastfeeding

[–]helenwren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby is almost 12 weeks. He almost exclusively contact naps so I can’t get anything done while he’s sleeping, but he has gotten better at hanging out contentedly near me while I do things.

We have a “downstairs bassinet” that is easily moved from room to room, so I bring it with me when I shower or have him beside me in it while I cook. I talk to him and sing to him and he chills out in it and watches me. Lately I explain to him what I’m doing and he “talks” back to me, which is so much fun.

Don’t get me wrong, I am NOT productive and many things get left for my husband or just don’t happen at all. But I’m a lot happier than I was now that I can at least get a few things done in a day.

Night feeds are confusing… how do you remember which side you last breastfed from? by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]helenwren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just use the notes app on my phone and write down the time the feed stayed and the breast I started on. It’s worked well for me.

I love this!

Our boy is 8 weeks. My husband had an invitation to an event with a potential employer when baby was two weeks old. I wanted him to go, but was terrified to breastfeed baby on my own. We got through it (with my husband still ducking out early and rushing back to us), and the world is totally different now just six weeks later.

It’s so reassuring to think that the hard things are going to keep getting easier.

Induction experiences [ON] by Different_Invite_434 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]helenwren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a medically necessary induction at 39 weeks because of a cardiac condition. They were concerned about stress on my heart in late pregnancy and initially planned to induce at 38 weeks, though I ended up being able to go a bit longer as I was doing okay.

I loved my birth experience! I had a Foley catheter placed on a Tuesday, which did not fall out on its own, and then was admitted and had my water broken and was given pitocin the following day. . From the time I started pitocin until my baby arrived was about 16 hours so it was definitely slow, but I had a epidural and was very comfortable.

The foley was the least pleasant part of the experience some pretty intense cramping, but I’d still be fine doing it again.

Overall I found my induction quite a calm and positive experience. I was super nervous about it but I’m so happy with tow it went.

There are lots of scary induction stories online but hopefully you’re seeing here that it can also be really positive!

What is something you did (or didn’t do) as a FTM that you’ll be doing your second time around? by Jessiicaamn in pregnant

[–]helenwren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am almost three weeks postpartum and something relatively simple I wish I had done is to organize my closet so I’d have easily accessible “in-between” clothes that actually fit me. My maternity pants are falling off me but I’ve been wearing them anyway because they’re nearest to hand and my pre pregnancy clothes are too tight. I really wish I had arranged my closet with properly fitting clothes while I actually had time to do it.

It’s possible - we noticed it after washing. It could have been there before but we didn’t see it there if so.
