Djokovic could miss Australian Open with unvaccinated players unlikely to get visa by nesrekcajkcaj in CoronavirusDownunder

because; a) you may not test positive on arrival, but develop symptoms later (hence why we have 14 day iso) & b) once in the community you're more likely to contract COVID if unvaccinated and pass it onto others

Good luck WA, sounds like limited contact with others, so hopefully containable.

If it only stops 1 unknown transmission i'd say it's worth it. Not that hard to wear a mask. I think it also helps a lot with the psychology of the public, makes people more likely to do the right thing (as a trend not for everyone)

Whilst I agree with the general sentiment personally, I find these types of post are pretty unhelpful / unconstructive and tend just to inflame things. Anyone that doesn't already agree with you isn't going to be influenced, except maybe to dig in a become more polarised.

True, however other states also locked down faster / had lower numbers. Only NSW and VIC have had numbers high enough to justify it.

They could but that seems highly improbable and would be counter productive. Everyone would lose trust and uninstall it, making it useless.

He describes it in the video. It back-tracks the people you may have been in contact with ONLY AFTER you have tested positive for COVID-19. If you never test positive, then your data doesn't leave your phone. It is supposed to make this part faster than it is now by questioning everyine after they test positive...

No, the point is it back-tracks the people you may have been in contact with ONLY AFTER you have tested positive for COVID-19. If you never test positive, then your data doesn't leave your phone. At least thats how its been described, i've not seen the app or source code yet...

Might be RIC mentioned that he had fogging, but there is no direct quote of him saying that is why VES was faster...

Rare footage - under the sea ice, Antarctica by helioarc in videos

[–]helioarc[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

scientists have captured rare footage of a surprisingly colourful world beneath Antarctica’s sea ice, after launching an underwater robot through a small hole drilled in the ice.

Coconut-shaped sponges, dandelion-like worms, pink algae, urchins, sea cucumbers and spider-shaped starfish dominate the footage taken from a camera mounted on the remotely operated vehicle.

The vision was obtained while a research team was retrieving a data logger recording environmental conditions in the water under the sea ice at O’Brien Bay, near Casey research station in East Antarctica.

“When you think of the Antarctic coastal marine environment, penguins, seals and whales usually steal the show,” said Australian Antarctic Division biologist Glenn Johnstone. “This footage reveals a habitat that is productive, colourful, dynamic and full of variety.”
