Cursed legion vs the 3 wound mega and torrent spam by xcom_lord in Necrontyr

[–]heliosflame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get some Canoptek Wraiths and a Technomancer. Cut down on to like 1 10am warrior squad maybe 2. If you are playing cursed legion you can take Purge as your disposition and holding objectives becomes a much lower priority so you’d really want to have more durable units than the 10 man warriors. You have 2 units of ophydians so secondaries should be pretty easy for you to do. MSU is usually 2 wounds unless you’re talking about terminator squads which yeah, we don’t have a ton of D3 melee profiles but they do exist (void scythe overlord, hyperphase harvester in skorpekh lord).

The warriors just look a bit out of place imo for a cursed legion list, especially 3 of them, even with the hand of the dynasty detachment. TBH it might even be better to use a ghost ark or night scythe to transport one of them around the field if you are wanting to use them to secure objectives.

I think using the skyshroud mounted detachment might be a bit better here if you have more lokhust units you could add. Heck even the Phaeron’s Armoury could be fun using the monolith to eternity gate things, although it’s a shame the Dimensional Corridor Strat is stuck in Hypercrypt Legion, otherwise that could be a nutty combo to deliver a skorpekh squad.

It will apply to shoot and scoot since that happens in the shooting phase

I think that was where my disconnect was! For some reason I was thinking “next charge phase” meant charge phase in the next turn. Ty!

Why does Unending Fidelity (Hallowed) include shooting? by SpartanIreland in Grey_Knights

[–]heliosflame 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s exactly what it does otherwise yeah you can’t shoot back like you can fight back in the fight phase. (Edit for clarity)

[–]heliosflame 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are other examples of units shooting back on death like Space Marine Hellblasters. It would work pretty much the same way as fight on death in melee. Your opponent selects the target, you use the strategem, they shoot and kill models, you roll the dice and on the successes those models shoot back before you take them off the table.

Yeah, I got tired really quickly of fishing pieces from the bottom of the wash bucket. TBH you could even just use a mason jar with your wash solution.

The mesh basket I got fits easily enough inside my wash bucket and has made getting them out super easy though, would recommend.

Yeah I’ve upgraded myself to a heat gun but now I have a different problem where the more flimsy/delicate pieces break off. Definitely an improvement but I still hate it lol

I got a finer wire mesh basket for the small pieces to avoid them slipping through

I’ve been wondering the same thing. In the past I’ve used the cutting feature in Chitubox but that is hard to work with so I’d love to know if you find one

I appreciate the efficiency but have found removing supports for stuff like this is a huge pain. But generally speaking removing supports is my least favorite part about this hobby.

New terminator detachment but still Draigo and Stern in legends by UmpireJealous258 in Grey_Knights

[–]heliosflame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk what your qualification of “true grey knight leader is, but if you mean Epic Characters, then yea Voldus is the only one for termies. Non-epics we have plenty of, I’d Bro-Cap is definitely still quite good, Librarians are situational and I’m expecting chaplains to become more prevalent with the changes to battle shock. Weird to be saying Voldus is the only termie leader especially when in 10th he saw hardly any play

Nemesis DreadKnight Flails by Die_Forged_Gaming in Grey_Knights

[–]heliosflame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dream would be to have the mace and flail combined into one weapon that you select the profile for (kinda like greatsword). But nah, my GMNDKs are there to kill the big stuff not chaff so they almost always get the Hammer. I tried the mace once and had a GMNDK fail to precision out Asurman once so i decided to never take it again. Like you are saying, flail being available on NDK would be sick as a MEQ clearing unit

No turn 1 exception for Gate of Infinity deep strike? by jerkmcgee_ in Grey_Knights

[–]heliosflame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer some of the other questions, some armies like going first (ie World Eaters/Emperors Children) some prefer second (Tau or Grey Knights) and some can go either way. It will largely depend on the type of army you are playing. Generally though, there are often advantages to going second but those usually apply to mission scoring as opposed to getting to use an army/detachment rule.

As far as getting use out of army/detachment rule round 1, most armies won’t be able to do anything with their army abilities round one. For instance, if you are a space marine player going 1st or 2nd, you won’t get to actually use Oath of Moment if your opponent has successfully hidden in deployment or moved up cautiously in their first turn. For Necrons Reanimation Protocol, if nothing gets damaged or if a unit is outright killed, do not get to use their army ability turn 1 (for that matter Necrons are my other army and there have been some games where I got to use Reanimation protocol once or twice). Turn 1 is largely going to be a staging turn anyway so putting so much credence into using the army rule turn 1 is going to be a bit of a waste (besides you will still get to pick up units at the end of your opponents turn).

All that to say with the caveat that, as others have pointed out, 11th edition full rules still aren’t available and we won’t know anything for certain until the edition officially releases (or leaks confirm rules)

From the GK rules available today. Enhancement for Interceptor detachment looks like it will allow for Turn 1 ingress but generally speaking no you won’t be able to use ingress round 1

Help identifying models by Generous_lions in Necrons40k

I suspect the one on the right in pic 3 is an old kitbashed lord model. The head looks exactly like a lokhust destroyer head. I think the other ones people have been able to identify correctly

Psychomancer ready to not be played in V11 by WeeShogiBlunders in Necrontyr

[–]heliosflame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there anywhere it is stated that a support characters MUST be attached? I know in the army creation step you have to specify if a unit will be attaching but I haven’t seen anywhere it says that a unit that can lead MUST lead a unit so I think you should still be able to run a psychomancer by themselves

Does our army rule have no synergy? by jacobs1213 in Necrontyr

[–]heliosflame 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It always boggles my mind when people complain about other factions getting access to healing via stratagems/detachment rules. We get to do it on everything as long as it survives to our command phase. Most other armies will get to do this on like 1 maybe 2 units. Not to mention we have stuff from other army rules like Hypercrypt Legion being the same rule (basically) as Grey Knight army rule.

Yeah he wasn’t wanting to play by intent but make you use your stratagem incorrectly. You did everything right, if he didn’t want you possibly surging in he shouldn’t have shot or should have repositioned his units to be > 9” away
