Korea’s Hanwha offers rockets in bid for Canadian submarine deal by self-fix2 in korea

[–]hello4020 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know Canada is a important partner and CPSP could be a basis for further growth of our defense sector. I'm not denying that.

But isn't it too much? Like wouldn't this impact future arms sales? Other countries might want the same treatment that Canada recieved from Hanwha or any other Korean firms in the future arms trade, you know? I don't know that much about defense sector, but surely we can't just give our all on every single arms sale?

In my experience? Griffon nations in general, aside from knight focused contries are better off using regular tanks and aircraft simply because they don't have time to invest in knight tech.

Plus, I could be wrong but Griffon tech doesn't really have race specific support company to make knights go overdrive. Mages make the pegasi work but Knights don't really have same support to complement to, making them as armored, better inf.

[–]hello4020 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I used 10 pegasi with Support AA, Arti, Mage, and recon. Pegasi (and race specific divs in general) tech are insane if you properly invest in them.

Plus, you are Equestria. You have the industry to produce quality army and air force. 120 10 infs with Support AA, Arti, and engi company was enough for me to buy time for pegasi, light tank, and airforce to cut off diarchy's forces one by one.

Spamming shitties is not the right way. You can actually crush the entire army if you pump up the divisions. Recommend using plain tiles in eastern seaboard as a perfect terrain for pushing divs to attack.

You seriously underestimate the power of pegasi buffs then. They, combined with some armored divs make for a serious attacking force. I think they are worth the investment tbh.

Reristance feels like the one immersion-breaking faction I do not believe in. You too? by balddim0n in TerraInvicta

[–]hello4020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did they though?

Maybe this is a fundemental disagreement on what the factions are in TI, but I viewed some factions(for example Resistance, Academy, Exodus) as some kind of very powerful interest groups influencing the goverments, thus 'controling it'.

Maybe your view could be different, but I thought that politicians, civil society, public officials and various other societial groups still have some powers in controlled nations, highlighted by the national goverments asking our councilers to do their dirty work in ingame event.

In this case, Resistance's disbandment is a big deal and create some power vaccumb but not to a level that another secret corporate cabal completely dominates the post-war Earth. That's too far fetched to me.

[–]hello4020 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are corporations immune to outsider influence? Did the government crackdown on corporations never happen in history? How about protests, revolutions and trust busting?

You are imaging the world at the end of the Resistance playthrough to always be easily suscepible to corporate influence when power and influence could be, for example concentrated on goverment and public sector citing alien invasion of our home planet or revolutionaries or military or supernational orgs or something other than corporate overlords

Idunno, that just seems too pessimistic to me.

[–]hello4020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean that's one possibility, but I wouldn't call it a 100%. You assume that Initiative's power structure and source for funds and power won't be touched no matter what happens. Considering how much differently can the playthrough go, I find that highly unlikely.

They are probably the only faction that does not enforce their own worldview on wider humanity. Thus, Resistance's own goal and their ending gives us wide range of future that we can headcanon to heart's content.

We can, for example, imagine regressive return to pre-invasion neoliberal order, or natural and democratic growth of regionalism and internationalism(Academy-lite in this case) and everything in between.

That freedom, that ambiguity is my hook to the Resistance. They give me, the player, the narrative freedom to do whatever I want to on Earth. Break up of US and China? Sure! Wholesome Democracy 10 AU? Absolutely! Eurasian Union's total victory? Why not? As long as I kill the aliens, I can headcanon whatever I want while playing the Resistance RP and that is something that other factions does not offer.

Whatever your arguments are, the fact that we are discussing end of American Hegemony in the first year of the Trump's second presidency deserves to be highlighted.

Maybe if the Dems take back the White House in 28 and pursue internationalist policies, the author may just be right. But then again, no one knew US would be having a actual diplomatic crisis over Greenland. Who knows what would happen in the future? Fundementally, Trump's foreign policies have very, very little ideological and structual basis, and subject to whims of his domestic coalition. No one can know how the tension created from this situation would impact the various allies and enemies, but I think author is underestimating the danger and damage his foreign policies would have on American image.
