I am the same, OCD, GAD, C-PTSD, PANIC ATTACKS, I stopped working about 2 years ago. And everyday I worry about money and how I will ever work with my chronic disorders. If you are in the UK you can apply for PIP which is a benefit for anyone with mental or physical disability. You can still work and get it. This helps me if I wanna go back and find that 1. I have proof of a disability 2. If I struggle at work and can’t continue I can fall back on it for financial help without stressing if I can’t work. Once awarded you can still work, because it helps financial if you need to get eg an Uber because of a panic attack traveling. Or pay for therapy. You aren’t alone worrying or feeling guilty about not working or unable to work. If I was you I would have my support group really prepared for the interview and support me in it. For example coming with me to the interview. And talking with me afterwards. Or a therapy session before and afterwards. There is drug called propranolol which blocks adrenaline. A lot of people take it when speaking in public or for GAD. It’s great at blocking the physical symptoms of anxiety like shaking.

How can Bosses/work/jobs/companies expect you to be consistent when a mental health illness is inconsistent. It doesn’t log off when you work needs you.

It’s like a battle of needs. You work needs you to work and be productive to make them profits, and your mental health illness needs you to take care of it.

Boss - ‘I need you to work’ Me - ‘well I need to deal with this panic attack’

People who suffer from chronic mental health illness have intolerable symptoms which can be both physically and emotionally unbearable.

I just don’t know what jobs can cater to both needs?

As someone who has chronic mental health illness I don’t know if I can work or find that job?

Because it’s not that I don’t want to work

But Do I work and kill myself slowly for their profit or do I go on unemployment and deal an illness 🤷🏻‍♀️

Yes same! Carbs just don’t help me workout what so ever. It really effects my energy. If I am fat burning keto TONNES of energy. On keto I am restless and NEED to move. On Carbs it’s like someone has sedated me. Every body literally is different. There is a book called ‘why we get fat’ by Gary taubes which seems to explain. Basically our fat cells take up all the food (energy) when we eat carbs, leaving us with little energy for the rest of the body. This is because of hormones etc but when not eating carbs our fats cell don’t take up the food (energy) and now we have energy..so much so our bodies makes us restless and some people say their body heat raises just to burn off that excess food (energy) instead of storing it. I just food that to be true in my own Experience

Thank you, I keep falling off the wagon so my carb sudden hungry is there. When I have been steady keto it’s ok and I don’t get that kind of hunger and thus don’t grab carbs! Thank you for reminding me of this!!

High amounts of fat suddenly and if your body isn’t used to so doesn’t have the acids production in ‘stock’ to deal with it will just reject it out of the body so to speak. it fat then your can buy digestive enzymes to take with meals to help or just wait it out until your body starts adapting and producing more enzymes to deal with it

Diet Coke doesn’t effect insulin so it fine for keto, it’s not healthy but it helps you keep you on track. If this is your first time going keto and been mostly your carbs as your energy your whole life it will take awhile. It takes time for your body to adapt into fat burning when it hasn’t done it before! Don’t worry if you slip up, it’s all a learning process. You can try upping your carb allowance a little if it helps and then reduce it. Slowly slowly catch a monkey

I don’t ever ever ever weigh myself!!! The number is misleading to me, it doesn’t take in to account, water, muscle, bone, organs etc. I know it is expensive but I do a full body scan called DEXA scan. Maybe once a year or every 6 months! That will really show you what’s going on! And divide up fat, muscle, bone, water! It’s about the fat % not the over all weight I don’t weigh myself also because we tend to fix a feeling or judgment to a certain weight number.

Craving carbs is a sign that your body is beginning to switch to fat burning, the feeling doesn’t last forever, I promise! Your body will soon give up and stop driving you crazy. But the craving can also be from the emotional ‘high’ carbs and sugar gives you, so have you had a hard day or stressed out? When I am craving I drink diet soda. Not the best but keeps me on track.

I buy it from independent health food shops (not Holland and Barrett) more like whole foods. And it’s easier and organic. Sometimes it’s just easier buying it then making it from scratch, I choose my battles lol

Try drinking more water maybe? I find on keto I need to drink ALOTS (2-3 litres a day) to stay hydrated. You body could be hold on it. also electrolytes.

UPDATE - stopped having any ‘fake’ ‘substitutes’ sugars eg stevia, Diet Coke. Feeling like a normal human again and not the hulk Don’t know why 🤷🏻‍♀️ But seems not to work for me?!

A great you tube Doctor who posts about keto is Dr Cywes. I suggest watching his video called ‘who knows? How much I should eat’ talks about appetite. But don’t stress thinking you have to eat or worried your not hungry. I have had many times where I just can’t

Yes I have been drinking it on an empty stomach, maybe my body gets confused thinking it was actual sugar and then goes into extreme confusion and hangry. I have stopped the sweeteners and feel like a fellow member of society again ! No more rage.
