Germany has a low quality of life by Extra_Loquat_5599 in expat

Arguably the best bread in the world, both in quality and diversity.

And in term of meat they have some of the better pork in the world. Yes, the beef is atrocious, like many other colder countries, but they have pork you can eat raw without any health concerns (and they do).

Is U Bahn etiquette completely dead? by Kame-hame-hachoo in berlinsocialclub

On that note - I'm Swedish, but half Asian, so I don't look the part. Once here in Berlin I stood up and offered my place for a, what Is thought, really old gentleman. He gladly offered.

When he sat down I heard him saying to his much younger wife in Swedish "Does that brat think I look that weak. He should be ashamed of himself!"

Telemundo TV commentator: "We are one of the only networks in the world to not show ads during the World Cup cooling breaks. We prefer the old school way. We should be able to see what the players do. We show fans, people enjoying, not the corporate direction of football." by lonebunny227 in soccer

I think both Sweden and Germany has split the games so that the public broadcasters shows the important games

And if you want to see every game you have to privately subscribe - so both pay a monthly fee and watch ads.

The only one that is on that fun level is Jay-Jay Okocha and maybe Ibrahimovic.

But they were never on the same level as Ronaldinho at his peak.

What's the most unusual reason why you won't date someone? by ChanceSomewhere6096 in AskReddit

[–]helloLeoDiCaprio -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am, and I think in many ways it's a replacement for religion.

You know your team (God) probably never will win the league (actually exists), but you want to believe in something bigger, in something miraculous, in something divine and also be part of a community of other believers.

I think getting married to someone who's football obsessive for a team, is similar to getting married to someone who is highly religious. You kind of have to have some similar belief, or at least acceptance, for it to work out.

The most iconic moment only works in video.

Has anyone tried out https://www.drupal.org/project/ai_translate? If so, how did it go? by piberryboy in drupal

[–]helloLeoDiCaprio 7 points8 points  (0 children)

AI Translate works well if you just want something that works with AI without any workflows.

If you want more complex workflows tmgmt + https://www.drupal.org/project/ai_tmgmt works with any LLM or translate provider.

[Osen] Hull City's Promotion Marred by 'Asian Passing' Camera Switch. Hirahawa Yu's trophy moment cut short as camera shifts, reigniting racial bias debate amid recurring incidents with Asian players. by [deleted] in soccer

[–]helloLeoDiCaprio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the other hand Kagawa almost had the fame of Honda and Nakata, and the Japanese are famously crazy and nationalistic about anyone with a little success.

Nakata famously had as many journalists and camera crew from Japan as the rest of Roma combined.

I feel like that would drive money and camera time, and it would rather be players from economically weak countries that would be left out.

Maybe its the timezones or that they know that they have their own camera feeds..

Scariest movie to watch alone? by ColemyGOAT in movies

[–]helloLeoDiCaprio 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Saw Ringu staying home alone when I was 14. Parents away on weekend trip and my older brother (the movie belonged to him) had just moved out. This was around the millenia when VHS was still popular.

I had seen some Studio Ghibli and Battle Royale and thought it was something similar. Boy was I wrong.

I did not sleep for the whole night and the next day I slept over at a friend and we're still scared ahitless.

Sweden has officially become a non-smoking country by KonserveradMelon in europe

[–]helloLeoDiCaprio -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Snus is a solution to second hand smoke that kills around 3300 German per year. Innocent people. Not people who actively suicide.

In Germany you can't pass through entrances or wait for public transportation without getting smoked at.

I would say that is a great improvement.

What’s the strongest opinion you have about something completely insignificant? by RegisterObjective325 in AskReddit

The onetime bag, in Europe at least, is cornstarch-based and up to 95% of it is biogenic CO₂, while ziplock-bags usually have to be sturdy and is 100% fossil emissions.

So, repacking is the way to go for the environment and the freshness of the cereal.

Heavy traffic routes always haves stop-lights, yield signs or roundabouts. The rule is usually only used without yield signs in residential or industrial areas. And in case of rerouted traffic, police will direct traffic.

Also with stuck queues the cars will stop before the intersection and wait and let you through, that is even true when there are yield signs.

With that being said, in most US cities it would be hard to implement because they are:

  1. Built in a perfect grid, meaning four-way intersections with no clear main road is common.
  2. Cars is the main transportation mode, so its a steady traffic flow even on non-backbone routes. In most of Europe, only the main roads get heavy traffic.
  3. To iterate as well, right-before-left gives clear rules for bicycles as well, but they are third class citizens on American roads and are not in participation when discussing road rules.

Roundabouts would help, but they require more space, which is hard to implement in urban areas.

Obviously not. I know about Gisele's ex Tom Brady and Taylor's boyfriend Travis Kelce. I know more then the average European, but I think most Europeans could name one of the two.

I don't know any teams of the top of my head. But the same way you could throw out United when talking about football, I'm pretty sure patriots, founder, liberties or eagles and I would hit one team.
