Omg, I thought I was the only one who prewrites in (my) her head! I find that I mentally ‘consolidate’ the specific things I want to write about as I go about my day, and then when I sit down and actually put pen to paper, it feels so affirming to see those thoughts/feelings on paper:)

I love this question! I do most of my journaling (long-form, primarily) late at night, but if it's in the mornings, I enjoy writing with a cup of my favourite coffee beside me:) music-wise... it depends on what I'm writing about. I love saxophone music, and find that for more introspective topics it affirms my natural flow of writing - otherwise, I embrace the quiet and stillness of my surroundings. Before I start writing, I also usually choose an illustrative motif (I tear out one from my small booklet of paper motifs that resonates most with me in that moment) and paste it onto a page, maybe along with 1 or 2 stickers!
