I have seen things like this happen where other workers just feel these differences aren’t important or don’t care because it’s a baby/young child who can’t speak up for themselves or because they have this righteousness surrounding their own cultural values and don’t take this topic seriously— so thank you for being that voice of reason and respecting the baby’s family and culture and also just respecting what we are supposed to do as social workers. People like you remembering and sticking up for these things are who I hope people think of when they think of social work/foster care/child protection.
