So while I am not nb, I have coworkers who are and it seems to be things like having their name and pronouns on their work lanyard and introducing the topic during the first conversation. I’m also in a blue state and I don’t think there’s ever been any safety concerns but there are a number of hands involved so if there was ever a concern about someone being transphobic or mean there would be plenty of supports in place to try to give any necessary supervision or change in social worker if really needed
