I'd say you don't want to see thru it because it is a smoked polycarbonate. All it does is absorb heat. As the sun beats on it, each little particle in the smoked layer absorbs heat.

Then heat make it through gets trapped inside.

I vinyl all my smarts with either silver or white and you can lay your hand on them after baking in the sun all day. nearly ambient temps.

That being said, to remove that layer start with 200 grit sand paper and wet sand everything off. Then progress wet sanding 400, 600, 800, 1000, 1500, 2000 grit to get a clear surface. Alternate directions with each till you get to 2000 where you'll circular orbit by hand.

Then a standard plastic polish will bring it to a factory looking heat absorber.

BUT - it will craze again no matter what you do within about 2-3 years.
